Mac Recording Software

Mac Recording Software

Postby Solace » Dec 24th, '11, 21:39

A friend of mine got a Macbook and he isn't sure how to get recording on it since the program I'm familiar with is Cool Edit Pro and he'd have to pay a good deal of money to get Adobe Audition. The only thing he's got to work with is Garageband which doesn't suit his needs (no homo). Does anyone have links to Mac compatible software that's good for recording and mixing?

It wouldn't be something to admit though lol, I'd love to have a Mac; they're dope. Expensive as hell though.

I don't know. Maybe Acid Pro? Or FL Studio? I'm just suggesting these softwares. I don't know how to use them. :sweating:

Garageband is better than 80% of whats out especially how cheap/easy it is to get. Not only is it simple, but it also produced great mix downs. It has a ton of preset for people who are not that interested in spending hours adjusting nobs and what not, BUT, at the same time you can spend the hours adjusting nobs, lol. So you get the best of both worlds.

You can record, mix, master, re mix, produce, and more in GB, it just takes time getting use to. You can upgrade to logic which is the best imo, but if you not familiar with gb, it may be tough to get use too. Some of the things that i've done in gb, you would of never believed.

Tell him to download Audacity; the version for Mac. It's what I use and it's great for editing as well as producing the vocals and such. Very user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Gets the job done as well. :y:

@Scrubz, I have no personal use with GB so I can't be sure, but he was having a lot of difficulty mixing in GarageBand. He did get it done, but it wasn't as good as he felt he would've done in Adobe Audition. But I'll tell him what you said, maybe he can get used to it.

@Eedee, lol Audacity sucks balls. Other than EQ, you can't really mix vocals at all. Just slapping one track onto another, and its "effects" are like echo, reverse, and then a long list of useless ones.

Not trying to be rude, just stating the facts. Audacity is the lowest form of audio auditing aside from Windows Movie Maker.
