Tips on Mixing a Track Properly?

Tips on Mixing a Track Properly?

Postby ShadysDisciple » Nov 22nd, '12, 03:21

So basically, I wanna start recording, I have a mic, verses, beats, and a recording software. Only problem is, I have no idea how to mix a track. I want my shit to be good quality, but I have absolutely no experience with mixing. What are some good (easy to use & affordable) programs for mixing? And most importantly, how do you go about mixing a track?

Cool Edit Pro (the old version of Adobe Audition) is probably the best program for beginners. When i first started mixing this tutorial along with the others this guy has posted helped me a lot - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn0DuC2F ... re=related ..........now keep in mind everyone's voice is different so your settings may differ from this but its still a good guideline to go by as far as learning about reverb, filters, compression, etc.

Sure thing. I've been using the settings from that video I posted and I've been most pleased. Sure, equalizing is more relative and requires something more than presets, but this way is still better than experimenting on your own and not knowing what you do. I definitely advise you to use Cubase and I assure you that because of that video you won't have any problems with working your way around the program.
