best way to promote a project

So YouTube will really only get you noticed if someone finds your channel and then views your bids, given that you haven't had high viewing bids before. I know you can search band camp but again, won't get far. One can share the link to your social media site but that careers as far as your friend list.

So what's the best way you guys know, to get masses bumping your music.

live performances, proper usage of social media ( Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr ( No shame in making a gif of yourself with a nice quotable for promotion purposes tbh))
