I think the new system is good, but more detail should be used when describing why you picked one verse over the other.

The points system placed a bit too much value on the technical aspect of writing and not as much on actual battle writing. I think the eye test is very applicable here, but the new voting system is only lazy if the judges make it so (for the record I think our judges are doing a good enough job).

I love that the system came up actually.

I'm mixed on it. It let's you kind of rule out favoritism and yes clarifies the vote more. But...
Say it was a Geno Menzo match.

Geno strings multies with a smooth flow, has some personals and decent punches. Uses a decent vocab. Hits on every category.
Now Menzo comes in and has ok everything but clearly loses every category... except punches. Four of his 12 bars drop your jaw, literally the most creative hard hitting thing you've seen... now that doesn't change anything cause he technically fell short in every other category?

The categories basically bypass personal opinion. Not having the categories let's a specific judge give his personal value on their favorite aspect of a battle.

I'm not throwing CP under the bus, but, I got every cat except personals. And his personals won the match. I think if you lightly cover each base you shouldn't automatically win.

But I'm for the people, whatever you guys decide will be the norm for the section.

Not to be that guy but I think your argument helped my point more. In an audio battle it's easier to tell who won, where as text it's more based on opinion. Therefor the categories negate your personal opinion because your so involved in focusing on the technical aspects of said categories. So in reality the categories make a match more lopsided.

Agreed, but like you just said, the point system gives you a chance when you can't get any info.
You can slack on an important category and still win.

Just seems odd
