Takeover Vs. Ether

Postby TheBoss123 » Aug 29th, '14, 03:52

I believe Takeover was the song that sparked the beef between him and Nas. I wanted to get the forums take on which they felt was stronger diss. I know a chunk of Takeover was directed at Mobb Deep, but i still think its worth the comparison.

Who do yall think went in more/ is better?

Ether is good too, but I also enjoy takeover more as a straight up song.

Ether is like some Urban Dictionary word right now, no? That's how you know a track made an impact. Stan as well.
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

''Ether'' but I kinda prefer ''Blueprint 2'' over both of these songs, all 3 are amazing though.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Honestly I hadn't listened to Ether until recently and I was expecting to be disappointed because some ppl go on about Takeover as if it's a godly track (which I do think it's great) and that Ether wouldn't even put up a fight but boy it did. I might actually prefer Ether now that I've listened to it a few times. Takeover is great don't get me wrong but I think I like the way Nas went about his diss more so I'll give the edge to Ether. Both are amazing songs but subjectively I think I like Ether more. It's incredible.

EDIT: I also thought some of Nas' lines were more personal and creative as opposed to Jay's. Also, Nas sounded really hungry and like he wanted to do some damage to Jay whereas Jay in Takeover kinda sounds too, I don't wanna say lazy, but he sounds too much like he thinks he's already above Nas and he doesn't need to try as hard to diss him whereas Nas feels more like an underdog and went for the kill. Don't know if that made sense lol.

Both songs are great but different.
Jay Z pretty much put Nas career under a microscope
Nas pretty much brought such raw energy on ether that it became a great diss
