The bad thing wasn't just not being able to move my arms and legs, but at a certain point I couldn't even breathe. Fortunately it ended quickly, and I "woke up".

I've had this quite a lot. But in real life. Like I'm wide awake, doing my normal daily stuff, and I watch myself do it from outside my body. Like I'm watching myself in a movie or something.

Although it turns out it's something called "Depersonalization disorder", and that it's fairly common (like 1 in 100 people have it).

That's probably not what you have, since it happens when you're asleep, but what you said just reminded me of what happens to me sometimes.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen it.. But that type of stuff don't seem to bother me.. And I've never been scared from anything like that. Why I can never really watch horror movies. Also in the dreams.. being held down bothers me more than anything. I hate that fuckin feeling.

I've had it several times. It's usually right after waking abruptly from a nightmare; I can see I've woken up but I can't move a single thing. Sometimes elements of the nightmare start showing up as hallucinations. I begin to have panic attack until I sorta pass out. This is honestly the scariest thing I have (and will) ever experience!

Have it regularly. Worst occasion I can vidily remember trying to shout my friend's name (we were on holiday staying in a hostel) and all I could do was grunt. I couldn't move a muscle no matter how hard i tried.

The way to beat it, in my experience, is to just completely relax. Don't try and fight it and then after about 30 seconds try and move. Usually you can. One time I still couldn't and I freaked out.

So interesting though, I feel like I understand what Locked In syndrome is like. Absolutely the worst thing imaginable. Imagine sleep paralysis for months / years.
