Agree on most of the points that you said. The Major concern is that we are having Images that are 600 Years Old, by now the Planet and so called existing inhabitants(If any) might have gone through various stages of evolution and might have advanced in various aspects of survival and physical features. We also don't the exact stage that they are now, maybe that planet might advanced life forms that are more intelligent than us. But what's the use, the Planet is so far away that it will take years to communicate with them Via. Radio waves let alone travelling to that place.
The only thing that can be salvaged out of this discovery is that Earth is not the only Planet in the whole universe to hold and sustain life, which is pretty much obvious. This will remain as a mere fantasy for the Astrologers and Scientist, also a new chapter in the books of school kids.
