What NHL team should I support?

Postby Cupid Stunt » May 11th, '12, 22:12

What NHL team should I support? I've been watching some NHL games on internet and on my TV, but I can't really decide which team I should "like".
I saw a Boston Bruins game, and I thought they were really good, they're really mean, and I like that. But Boston's fan base is just, horrible. I heard somewhere that an old LADY from Vancouver went to Boston to watch Bruins vs Canucks and she got hit by a Bruins fan. That just... ugh.
I heard Detroit Red Wings are good, they have some good players, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, but I just don't like them, I know they're good but I don't like them.

Soooooo, good NHL teams? I'd be glad if you could tell me some info about the team and maybe some good players too?

Thanks.

Geno wrote:Toronto Maple Leafs. They've been awful for a while but this past season was really good until they collapsed. I think next year is the year they make the playoffs, and man will that ever be some great hockey to watch when they get in.

They had 2 of the league's top scorers until 1 of them (Joffrey Lupul) got injured. The other was Phil Kessel. Both were averaging at least a point per game, which is pretty impressive in the NHL.

Here's a vid of some of their highlights.

They're both young too (24 & 28) so they have lots of great years ahead of them. While they were healthy they were tops in the league for points by a duo. Really exciting to watch, 2 of my favourite players.

A lot of other teams play a boring style of game to watch. The Leafs are exciting to watch. Look up some highlights from the 2011/2012 season. :)

Also, we have a really young rookie defenseman Jake Gardiner who's AMAZING to watch. Such a smooth skater. Check it out:

I'll def check maple leafs out. thanks :)

Yeah, I seem to be one of the few people on here that follow the NHL entirely, as opposed to strictly my team.

I mentioned Kessel and Lupul from the Leafs, but in my opinion, the greatest player in the game right now is Evgeni Malkin from the Pittsburgh Penguins. The guy's just a damn beast.

Some of my favourite players off the top of my head, aside from ones mentioned, that are still currently playing are:

Zach Parise (New Jersey)
Claude Giroux (Philadelphia)
Alex Ovechkin (Washington)
Matt Duchene (Colorado)
Pavel Datsyuk (Detroit)
Pekka Rinne (Nashville - Goalie)
Dion Phaneuf (Toronto)
Patrick Kane (Chicago)

Being a fan of the league in general is fun in itself. There's tons of great teams. :flutter:

Yeah, I heard of those players. Datsyuk is a shootout god, Ovechkin is fast & so talented, I heard Malkin owned in "Russia vs Sweden". So, you and me are the only ones that follow NHL? That's, cool? :8)
I watched some Bruins games on youtube & Tyler Seguin is really talened, I can see him being one of the best NHL players in maybe 3 years?

That Grabovski shootout made me wanna play hockey. lol ^

And yeah, T.Seguil is very young, how old is he? 19? I think he's 19. I'm not sure, but he played in that All stars game earlier this year? And he's freaking 19.

That Kadri shootout was really good too, but he scored on Tim Thomas, and Tim is in Bruins, and I'm a Bruins fan. ( I also like Montreal Canadiens & Toronto Maple Leafs )-

This penalty shot was cool, by Shawn Thornton, not the best ever but it was good. ( Still sick though )

But I guess you've already seen it.

But I have seen that goal. It's pretty sweet.

Grabovski used to play for Montreal but they traded him to us because they didn't like him and none of the players did either.

Now every time he plays them he dominates. Look what he did in an overtime game this year.

Uhh, probably. This is the only one I can find

http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/1223 ... itals.html

It'll probably be up closer to game time, so probably about 2 hours.

And this is my favourite Grabovski play off the top of my head

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acicG4TSKy4

He's such a warrior. Look at this one lmao

LOLOL, what a fucking beast. Couldn't find a good deke from anyone on Boston Bruins. ( I searched on youtube )

I think Boston needs like a, famous russian guy like Datsyuk or Malkin, or maybe a Swedish guy like backstrom or lidstrom. I don't know why, I just think they'd do better. They fight WAY too much though.
But I just have to ask this, who do you think wins? Capitals or Rangers?

I guess the Caps though because I like Ovechkin, Backstrom, Semin, Green, Holtby. Cool guys, good players.

Edit - The Rangers won. I didn't even watch it aside from the last 6 minutes lol. I didn't care much for this series.

You don't like Bruins? Aww, that's okay. lol :)

Yeah, the Caps lost, Lundqvist is an amazing goalie. 22 saves? That's pretty good.

Does Russia get Ovechkin in their team now? Russia have Datsyuk Malkin & Ovechkin. Holy fuck.

My little-brother is 14, is it too late to start playing hockey? He's not the best Ice skater. He's wondering and I don't know what to answer.

I'm not a huge fan, but if there's an NHL team I tend to support it would be the Blackhawks. Chicago is the closest team to me geographically. Plus, since other members of my family are HUGE Red Wings fans, I really love that it pisses them off to no end when I cheer Chicago on.
