anywae as far back i know there was a david barlcay who worked as a docter in america, who then moved to france and raised a family there, the name was prounounced "BarKhley" was spelt "Barcley" then one of there sons or some shit moved to scotland and through time (coz of the scottish accent) the name changed to "barclay" getting prounounced how it looks/
on my mothers side, its simply from ireland to scotland and thats that.
and my immediate family is my mum born in scotland dad born in south africa.
so as far as i know Barclay originated in America and was most likely a Jewish family at one point, David is a jewish name and for some reason there were always atleast one David in every generation.
