Most people won't be the exact same when you've had the kind of success he has. I've found he has taken on the personality of the mood of his CDs at the time of them, mixed in with growing up. I'm different than I was 10 years ago (At least I'd hope so), even 5 years ago. I can imagine all the stuff he's been through has changed him and molded his character quite considerably. Obviously when he is promoting a new CD he wants to be accessible to the public, so he has to be out there promoting himself- he has to make himself interesting. Right now in his career I don't see him taking on much of a different personality. He's what, 35? He's off the drugs, he's focused on music and just staying on the straight and narrow. I also don't see what's wrong about praising other rappers. He might not have done it 10 years ago, but he's also not the same person he was 10 years ago, he's grown up and is way more mature...and now that he is off all of the things he was on, he can see the bigger picture, so to speak.
That pretty much summed up exactly what I was thinking.
If he was writing lyrics about going crazy at the media then he was gunna go crazy at the media; that was his role. Obviously drugs played a part especially in 1999 when he was being offered drugs left right and centre.
I think he's at his best and most healthy stage now. Still looks slightly awkard but he's always been pretty shy, it's just the drugs and the fame got to him in his prime.
Lets be thankful the one CD he didn't "mould" to was Relapse. Eminem in prison for serial killing wouldn't have been good.
