Tupac Weekly...

Postby mcZu » Dec 21st, '10, 23:24

Due to the recent Tupac hate I've decided to post a new (old) Tupac song every week. Mainly to display how good of an emcee he was.

To start this series of I thought I'd better post a song displaying Tupac's skills as a lyricist, since a lot of people seem to think Tupac's lyrical skills are next to none. Tupac's alliteration in the following song is great.

Tupac - If I Die Tonight

I liked the verses and hook, but....i don't know, it's pretty boring. Maybe it's the beat.

Yeah, great thread Kamil! :smoking:
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Great idea Zu, 2pac was a great emcee, to me he proved that on the 7 Day Theory, not a lyrical monster by any means, but he had unmatched emotion, could flow for days, and as the track in the thread proved, his pen game was top notch
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

I don't understand the hate either. Tupac was more than just a rapper. I have listened to pac for years and love his music, and then when em produced a handful of songs it made it even better. Ghetto gospel from em, po ni**a blues from storch, broken wings, thug mansion, and the list goes on of great songs. I find that i listen to more of his post death music since it has a more current sound but i love it all! Real rap about real life shit...

Great thread!

nice idea homie, and do the great man justice.

The excuse about his lyrics not being great is weak, his lyrics were great, he just had emphasis on other parts of his music, just like every great artist, who utilize their biggest strengths moreso (ie. Bob Dylan with his lyrics as opposed to his vocals, Michael Jackson with his dancing as opposed to his lyrics, Bob Marley with his message as opposed to his vocals, John Lennon with his lyrics as opposed to his vocals etc.).

The most intelligent person involved in music in my opinion. Ever.
The New York Times - "Lloyd Banks may have stealthily become the most important rapper in New York".

If any of you would like to suggest a song, then PM me that specific song. I might even post 2 - 3 song next week instead of just one.

Hey, can we also post songs? or you wanna do it the you way you like :p

If you want to you can PM me one of your favorite songs and I'll see if I can post it next week. I would like to choose carefully which songs to post, but there should be more than enough to choose from anyway.

I think you should post 3 or 4 songs a week. One a week is too little :'(
