Please Explain: King Mathers

I always thought it was just a name created by die-hard fans, who thought of the name "King Mathers" when Eminem didn't release the name for Encore [or relapse] yet. I figured the name just stuck to fans, but people are still talking about the album.

I get irritated whenever I hear someone bring up the name (thinking it is just a made up name), but I have seen it so much, I was hoping someone could clarify. What is the story behind this? Is it like Relapse 2 - an album that was supposed to be made, but never fully was?

Cashis and Em made a deal where they would name each other's albums, and Cashis came up with King Mathers for Em's album title name.

Lol I understand. The part where it is stated that Em named Cashis' album as well is the rare part. I found interviews where Cashis says that's Em's album, but I need to find the whole interview where he explains it.

I can't find the part where he says they named each others albums but it's kind of implied. I found this on imdb about Cashis.

Loose Cannon was originally going to be called The County Hound with The County Hound EP being almost like a sample such as how The Slim Shady EP was to The Slim Shady LP, but while in the studio Eminem noted Cashis as being a Loose Cannon which gave way to title change.

King Mathers is the tentative title for an upcoming album from American rapper Eminem and his fifth major label studio release.

50 Cent indicated that Eminem is preparing a new solo album. Labelmate Ca$his also attested to the new album, referring to it as King Mathers. He said that it would be released in 2007, and that Jay-Z would be featured on the album.

Eminem was in the studio with T.I. and produced three tracks, two of which were produced for T.I.'s album T.I. vs. T.I.P. (only one made the final cut) and one for Eminem. He’s back! After being away for three years Eminem is planning to make a comeback with King Mathers, his fifth solo effort in eight years. The album is currently slated for an October release, with it’s first single “Still Shady” hitting the air waves as early as mid-August. Overall, what I have gathered is Cashis claimed that to be an album name during an interview and everyone ran with it. Either way, I am looking forward to hearing more material from Shady/ Aftermath.

Yeah i remember that, Cashis named Ems album "Kings Mathers" and Em named Cashis record Loose Cannon.

I believe at some point, Em was thinking about this name. Then Cashis tells all. We never actually heard "King Mathers" come from Em's mouth

King Mathers actually sounds more like something that should be dropped after he dies
