Yeah but, Em is consciously changing it. That's why.

Jay sounds the same as he doesn't make much effort to sound different. He may switch up flows but he doesn't consciously force a tone-change and... no rapper I've ever heard has put the same effort and focus on vocal emphasis as Eminem.

Like Game said, Em's like Eddie Murphy in the studio and that poet that praised him also commented on his verbal energy. There's something about the elasticity and clarity, and sharpness of his voice, but I don't think it's entirely natural. I think he's worked on it.

And, every album he's purposely sounding different. So, where as with most rappers all you'll hear is the natural age of their voice which can often not be very noticeable at all, Em is making an effort to change his entire tone for an album. And, I'd put a bet on more than we think. As in, I bet he spends a good while finding a new tone and honing it.

If you listen to even his growl and angry voices for example, they're so... powerful and... I dunno. There's something incredibly sharp and honed about his voice(s). It's practice.

This is the dumbest thing ever. He can't do his SSLP voice anymore. Nor can he do his Infinite, MMLP, TES and 8 Mile voices.

His voice has changed permanently, after years of drug abuse/decay.

Ozzy Osbourne changes his voice on purpose, guys. He could easily sound like he did in the early band days. His voice ain't gooooing throuuugh chaaanges.

He just did a live Renegade performance one year ago and he sounds exactly like he did then now. He can still do the MMLP voice.

But different, regardless of how much it is. I never said he sounds totally different, but his voice on Recovery was not nearly as hungry sounding as 2.0 Boys.

Yeah I do agree with that I just listended to them and I do see the difference but its really because he switches his flow all the time. He's said in a couple of interviews that he trys to sound different on every record.

i think it's because he doesn't layer his voice anymore with other levels of his voice.

I hate it when people say stuff like that, and dimiss the "Re-Up era"

I loved his voice around that time period. I even liked his voice on Pistol Poppin'

10000x better than his shitty 'accent' and childish/puerile bullshit on Relapse

Eminem sounded like he was dying on those songs...oh, probably because ha actually WAS.

What does it say about YOU that you actually LIKE that voice?

I've got an idea, guys!!!111 Let's fatally wound Eminem and then have him record a track. The voice will sound amaaaaazzzzinnnnggggg.

no he doesn´t..his voice is much deeper now, can be seen in any interview...

compare this voice:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKaN8HwO7AI

with this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KoAgYSbn4U

I don´t know the reason..some people say it's because of yelling,I also heard that his voice changed after drug abuse (I don´t think so, the drugs don´t affect the voice :facepalm ) his older now ,but I got a cousin of his age and and he talks the same like 8 ago...so I don´t know...

either way,I like more the new voice, is more sexy :flutter:

don´t confuse the normal voice, with the accents..
when i say that I like more his actual voice,I don´t mean that I like the accents of relapse.Accents is something that he does on purpose.I mean that I like the tone of his voice now better than before..

Drugs don't affect voice? You can't be serious.

Drugs affect the whole body.

It's something called maturity and aging. Does your voice sound the exact same that it did 10 years ago? No.

:facepalm2

Most people's voices don't change any noticeable amount in 10 years, unless that 10 year span includes puberty.

However, if you put stress on the vocal chords...yes.

It is a combination of him getting older and him changing it on purpose ( More him changing it purposely.)

yes,I´m serious.
some types of drugs affect the voice, weed and cigarettes particularly..
but vicodin, ambien, sleeping pills,methadone..as long as I know this kind of drugs don´t affect the voice...

Amadeo wrote:^ Um, then explain this

She just said she doesn't know what changed his voice like 2 posts ago!

Honestly, I (and I'm guessing, most of you) don't have enough knowledge about vocal chords and drugs to answer either, but simply because no one can give a better reason for his voice change, we can't automatically say it's drugs.
