It's something called maturity and aging. Does your voice sound the exact same that it did 10 years ago? No.

:facepalm2

Most people's voices don't change any noticeable amount in 10 years, unless that 10 year span includes puberty.

However, if you put stress on the vocal chords...yes.

It is a combination of him getting older and him changing it on purpose ( More him changing it purposely.)

I don´t know the reason..some people say it's because of yelling,I also heard that his voice changed after drug abuse (I don´t think so, the drugs don´t affect the voice :facepalm ) his older now ,but I got a cousin of his age and and he talks the same like 8 ago...so I don´t know...

either way,I like more the new voice, is more sexy :flutter:

..

Drugs don't affect voice? You can't be serious.

Drugs affect the whole body.

yes,I´m serious.
some types of drugs affect the voice, weed and cigarettes particularly..
but vicodin, ambien, sleeping pills,methadone..as long as I know this kind of drugs don´t affect the voice...

She just said she doesn't know what changed his voice like 2 posts ago!

Honestly, I (and I'm guessing, most of you) don't have enough knowledge about vocal chords and drugs to answer either, but simply because no one can give a better reason for his voice change, we can't automatically say it's drugs.

yeah,I know his voice changed,I said back there.
what I´m saying is that I don´t think it´s about drugs..and I repeat I know some drugs affect voice,but not vicodin,ambien,sleeping pills...
in my point of view and as someone said is a mixture of getting old with lots of stress on vocal chords.
I don´t care I like more the new voice..(you can crucify me now )

I think that I´m done with this voice thread :facepalm

His voice sounded so different on songs like GOAT coz hes on drugs at the time of recording, so his voice is all slurred n shit, they didnt permanently change his voice.

Personally I don't think his voice changed THAT much. He did write in his book about using the high-pitched nasally voice on purpose. But even on some early songs he used his natural voice. Compare "The Way I Am" to "Won't Back Down," or compare "Stan" to "Mockingbird" it's really not super different. Which means he was capable of using his current voice back then, he just chose not to sometimes. Compare "Mosh" to "My Name Is" and yes, it's going to sound very different. But consider how different the styles of those two songs are. I agree with some others in this thread, I don't think any other rapper puts so much emphasis on voice. This is part of what makes Eminem a genius.

People are acting like he sounds SO different that they can't believe it's possible. Did I say he still sounds exactly the same now? No. The point I'm making is that it is not THAT different. If anything, you are helping my argument with your example. On SSLP and some of MMLP he purposely changed his voice and that explains why it sounds slighty different from some of the MMLP era, and even moreso on TES. Whether you think his voice on one track sounds better than another is irrelevant to me. The point I am making is his voice is not that different now from some of MMLP and beyond. Yes it has changed over the years, I'm not denying that. But damn. You know it's Eminem when you hear it. And the fact that he did a lot of it on purpose makes this whole discussion even more irrelevent, lmao.
