HIV is now more like an chronic disease than an immediately deadly one. It will still be hard to live with, obviously. But one can still get old and live a long life, it's all about how you deal with it.

Still horrible news to get at such a young age, did she cut herself with the knife will blood was still on it? Even if it was, having contact with HIV infected blood through something like a knife does not automatically mean that the 'receiver' will get infected as well.
