Let's face it, Dilla's dead and it would never be a real "collab" anyway as he is basically just gonna spit over a what is most likely a scrapped beat of his. I've heard him freestyle over a Premier beat but that was hardly a collab either.

If it wasn't for that horrible 2pac release years ago, I would say it's out of respect that he has refused to work with someone who isn't there to approve the product.

I totally agree with this, except that I enjoyed Loyal To The Game, even though Em had Pac say G-Unit (which was fucked up) & put Jada on the N1ggas track even though he killed it.

And he's shockingly rich, I honestly don't think he would give a shit.

A few points...

Touring/shows, commercials & movies etc... is Em's business, not Interscope's. For example, if Em were to make a movie for $15m or "one show in Australia" for $6m, Interscope wouldn't profit - in direct economic terms. Indirectly, of course, record sales - "in the area" - are likely to increase when artists tour.

* Also, Em's management know's what they're doing. Thinking long-term has been a winning concept. Sure, Em could probably make 5 movies a year and a couple of commercials, and make HUGE money, but... Em is not an actor per-sé, and these movies would lack quality, and when you're overexposed (commercials etc.) your market-value drops. Em would lose artistic respect, and fans. This could work though... in short-term. *

Whilst when it comes to music/recordings, Em has obligations to his label. Of course, neither of us here, knows exactly what these [obligations] are. But one thing is for sure, labels want to maximize profit. I'm also quite sure that Interscope has its "standards" (and with Em, these "standards" are high), there is a certain amount of money you'll need to pay for an Em feature, certain percentages of the profits from the album will be going to Interscope/Em. Why do you guys think Em wasn't featured on Young Jeezy's album?

You must also remember that to Interscope, "Eminem" - as a money making machine - is a long-term project. Having too many features - in a short period of time - can lead to over-exposure, and a dropping demand. Em during this past decade has been this sort of mystical figure, not the dude you'll see on every event etc.., but when he does appear, there are often big headlines & a lot of buzz.

Oh, and "he's shockingly rich, I honestly don't think he would give a shit.". If Em really wasn't caring at all for money, he wouldn't require such monstrous amounts for the shows he's been doing lately in Australia/Canada/US/Europe...

Don’t forget, the music industry is a business.

Maybe he doesn't feel supported by them or there's some politics behind the scene that's turning him off but if the Dilla project is being spearheaded by his mother I don't see what the problem would be.

I'll just list a few off the top of my head:

Obie Trice
Trick Trick
Kid Rock
King Gordy
Purple Gang
Promatic

Not including D-12 & Royce since they're on the label. He might not have recorded with all of them, but has always supported them. I know I missed a few too. He has always supported the Detroit rap game.

^Oh Ok. I wasn't sure. Aside from the guys on his record label you just don't hear about it much. I guess there's also the possibility he doesn't want to spread himself too thin and do too much.

I think that this has mostly to do with Interscope then it does Eminem. Eminem is really humble and down to earth and he has always liked to get involved with the Detroit scene. He probably has signed under a new contract that contains guidelines that he must follow who knows. I mean if I was Interscope I would want to make sure my client was constantly a hot commodity and for that to work I would need to make him untouchable. In doing so when he does come out with a new album there is more appeal= more sales = more $$$. So I believe it is mostly about him being overexposed/oversaturated.

As he had an album in 2009, 2010 and the Bad Meets Evil EP in 2011.

And then a ton of features, especially considering what he would usually do...

Maybe he's working on the D12 album or new solo material and wants to create a silence / wait.

Or maybe he just didn't like the idea.

Or he didn't pay him enough.

What movie?
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?

I've just heard the bit about Em...

This topic / title is misleading.

All he says is that they've reached out to Em, and they don't know if it's a scheduling issue or what but they haven't been able to get him yet.

That's a bit different from Em 'refusing' to be on it lmao.
