I would love Hulk to join us. What a coup that would be.

Hulk hungry to work with AVB

But that damn €100m buy out fee. Then again, as long as Porto and Chelsea could agree a fee it wouldn't matter.

We'd be crazy to pay that. I think if anything, there would just be an agreed fee. The buy out clause just means if any club wants him, they pay the fee and Porto have no choice but to allow talks. Doesn't mean that's the only price we can get him for though.

He's not worth it, and Financial Fair Play has scuppered big moves for everyone.

It hasn't lol, it's just restrictive. I've explained this before in a previous post. Arsenal for example will still be able to make big moves if they wanted to as they are in a very strong financial state.

They don't make big moves anyway, that's why they're in a strong financial state. For the majority of the big-spenders, it stops it.

I think there will be ways around it, but still, it was brought in solely to stop City.

LOL. Are you serious? You're telling me UEFA would propose a regulation solely to stop City from spending? Talk about a conspiracy!

There's plenty of clubs with huge financial backing. Chelsea, PSG, Anzi, Barca, Real, Arsenal (believe it or not). It's to make the game fair for those who do not have billionaires backing them, hence the name.

And it doesn't completely stop clubs like City and Chelsea, it just limits us. As long as we meet specific targets at specific dates then it's fine.

It doesn't make the game fair at all. It cements the top clubs in their positions at the top. It prevents anyone lower down taking that risk and going for it. It stops every club dreaming of having a wealthy owner. It allows Man United, burdened with hundreds of millions of debt and owners that don't care, to dominate the market. It's maintaining the status quo for the next 50 years. I'm just relieved City have managed to scrape through the door before it slams shut forever.

As you said, there will probably be ways around FFP anyway. I don't think this season will the last time you'll see City and Chelsea spending large amounts of money. It'll just be less frequent.

A fun little blog post for Chelsea fans.

We Ain't Got No History wrote:There have been signings aplenty (both young and old) as Sugar Daddy Roman opened up his purse strings once again. A revolution of sorts has been started, with a new (yet familiar), bright, young manager taking over. We've had players dressing up as superheroes (Cech) and superheroes emerging from the shadows (Sturridge, Ramires). And, of course, we had our fair share of tremendous footballing entertainment played out on the endless promise of possibilities that is the Stamford Bridge pitch.

Chelsea agree fee with Bolton for defender Gary Cahill

I wonder how much we're paying for him? I'd be surprised if it's anything more than £10m.

I hope Henry's loan deal goes through too. :y:

When Luiz is disciplined he actually plays very well. He is a good CB but he's just a liability when he attempts stupid tackles.

Wenger confirmed earlier today at the pre-match press conference that the Henry loan is pretty much a done deal. I'm so happy I could cry! :worship:
