Do you want Em to make his next album darker? Cover art?

Postby NeonGameWave » Oct 1st, '12, 16:38

This has been on my mind for awhile and I just wanted to get it out there, now I really want to see a more darker Eminem album, something with more substance and personal elements than Recovery. Something like The Marshall Mathers LP but more darker or political. I want Eminem to address worldwide issues not only ranging from the problems of Detroit but also everywhere else. Do you guys want to Eminem address the recent issues surrounding Japan and America dealing with the many earthquakes, typhoons and etc? Also I always wondered what an Eminem album would sound like with cinematic elements although some including myself may consider Relapse to have a constructive, seamless and cinematic flow. Do you want Eminem to dig deeper regarding his current situation in terms of fans, haters and critics? Do you want Em to talk about the dark side of being a celebrity as well as address his current relatioship with his mother and also talk about his father? What do you guys want the cover art to be like? Do you want to see a dark Slim Shady concept such as Eminem explaining the origin of Slim Shady in a new way.

It better be better than Relapse and Recovery. If it's not, then Eminem was just a flash in the pen. He needs to redeem himself and rediscover who he once was.

If he produces at least 75% of it then we're good. Eminem performs best on his own production. Simple as. I just hope we don't have anymore choppy, LTWYL-esque, Alex da Kid type-y, Skylar Grey-laced material. I want that cinematic feel that you mentioned.....like you're in a movie.

There's no limit to the stupidity you spout, is there? What if he doesn't wanna rely on who he once was, and rebuild himself?

He doesn't "need" to do anything to please idiots like you. What he "needs" to do is whatever feels right for him.

Sorry, how was this stupid? He does need to do better than his previous two albums. This can be seen as him redeeming himself, both to the fans who loved Relapse and found Recovery corny, and those who hated the direction (like myself) that Recovery made him take. I miss the almost seamless production, the skits, and the composition that makes the album more than a collection of songs with an intro and an acceptable finale. And with this in mind, I do think Em is rediscovering who he once was. He has said it himself in interviews; Relapse altered his perception on how he wished to make his music. I think Recovery was a stepping stone, but perhaps in a different direction to that which he is going to take next. And I hope that this is the case.

I also want the next album to be something that Em wants to make, but at the same time I don't believe that Relapse was something he can wipe under the carpet. He clearly spent a long time composing that album and creating those tracks, it must be difficult to have that level of lyricism go so unappreciated. And with this in mind, Relapse was something that Em wanted to make at the time. Consequently, who is to say what he likes anymore? He didn't like making TRSS but he had to.

With nothing to react against, he has an open world of possibilities for his next record. If it is darker I would welcome that. I think if I hear another Recovery type album, no matter if the records are good, I will think Em has lost the ability to produce music which can change our perception of music.

HopsinShadie said Em will be a "flash in the pan" if he don't make a certifiable classic next.Ban this fucking moron, Em got 3 classics back-to-back-to-back to start his career, who else can say that? Recovery & relapse are borderline classics too, if not for 2 songs on Relapse & one on Recovery IMO

'Flash in the pan' ?

Regardless of what you thought of this last three albums; there's no way a rapper who came out with three classics in a row, who has sold 90 million albums, has some of the biggest songs (and THEE biggest) in hip-hop history, and is still one of the most talked about artists 13 + years into his major career can be described as a 'flash in the pan'.

I know you're probably gonna say "why didn't you answer the rest of my question", but right now, I just wanna address this.

First, what do you mean another album like Recovery? Like no skits, just a collection of songs? Because I too want to hear skits again, I want to hear a more unified sound.

But why is it unacceptable for Eminem to just make good music? Why does he have to make albums that will "change our perception of music"? Don't you realize how few artists can do that, let alone the amount of times Eminem already has?

Unless I'm misunderstanding you...

I find myself in the middle of both your opinions I think. I want Em to make the music he wants to (I believe Relapse was a step towards this and that Recovery perhaps wasn't completely himself) make and I do just want to hear "good music" from him, though I also want skits/cinematic feel and much better production/concepts.

I do however agree that it is a lot to ask of an artist who has accomplished as much as Eminem has though I also think he's capable of another classic if he sticks to the right formula, I still see signs of his genius now.

I'm going to try and not have too high expectations for his future music, just so I can hopefully be pleasantly surprised still.

@ Insane: the flash in the pan comment was ridiculous. But some of what he/she said was certainly thought provoking.

I don't think Em HAS to make a game changing album, but I definitely think he should consider it. Recovery pales, in my opinion, in comparison to ALL of his previous albums when artistic understanding is taken into account. As bad as Encore is, it has an overall vibe which is very accessible. Recovery is a shamble of mostly good to genius records. If it had something to link them together and tell a story it would be awesome. I'm not saying this is completely necessary, but after MBDTF Em really needs to pull his game together if he wants to be recognised as the best at the moment. It doesn't matter who it is, everyone i speak to says Jay and Ye are killing it.

^Good points, however, I feel that Recovery is better than MBADTF.Lyrically outshines Ye & 12 songs don't qualify for my standards when Em had 17 dope tracks & plenty of hot leftovers! Don't get shit twisted though, I fucks with MBADTF
