Nas is better than Jay in every way. Shit look at their last albums. Jay had like 50 features and Nas had like 5. Nas was praised more. Jay needs a shit ton of features to get props nowadays, Nas can just put out a track by himself and it gets praised. Shit Nasty is better than any Jay song this decade.

No because Em didn't invite me.

not really lucid but lemme try... nas is an influential rapper, jay's influence transcends the genre. same with pac and em.

Nas> Jay....J is just better at appealing to the masses. A better business man. Doesn't make him a better artist.

I get what kkaniff means by transcending the genre though.

I was in my English Lit class and we were talking about the Great Gatsby cos we're gonna read it. Then he started rambling on about the new film coming out and how he was listening to the radio and found out Jay-Z was the music consultant for the film- thats when I paid attention. Inside I was like "oh, Jigga that Ni**a!" It sounds pretty good, too. This, of course doesnt prove Jay to be the better rapper.

Back on subject!!
Em's been on the cover 14 times? Shit, Im sure I've only seen 3/14 of the covers.

No Stan on the list?
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Nas was always the better lyricist than Jay but never the better artist.
He's one of the most sophisticated lyricists that ever graced the mic & his catalog is out of this world but he's not even near the caliber Jay & EM are as an artist.

As a matter of fact the tried to have his own label, twice that is & both times failed with a bang as he couldn't even put his group Brave Hearts & his artists on the map, let alone to compete on entrepreneur level with whoever, which is big part in been a great artist in the hip-hop culture.
I'm not even talking about business skills but about pure artistry & charisma in which he's not even in the same league as Jay & Em are, Biggie & Pac were.

Well 50's from the next generation or rappers, the ''new breed'' remember. He's in half of their careers time & album wise, more to some of them so it's normal not to be in that league today.

But like Ice Cube said that time ''Say what you wanna say about 50 but one day he's gonna be one of the biggest hip-hop legends'' & he's on his way to get there.

50's not there lyrically but as an artist one day he could match anyone but EM IMO.

Nah, there's barely any Em stuff at all. No interviews, just the list with little blurbs about each song.
Lose Yourself is indeed on the list, but it's 28. 50's In Da Club is 20. My Name Is is 40. There's an old pic of Em (like, 2003-4?) that says, "I don't need no shrink. I tell my problems to the world."
