My brother don't you ever listen to full albums to decide for yourself? I personally never check individual songs to see if I like an artist. You can only ever given a half decent opinion on someone if you listen to an entire record at least a couple of times.

Alright, then which album should I check first?

First Born? By The Throat?

Eyedea & Abilities - Murder of Memories (First Born) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aam8tyc9Rk
Eyedea & Abilities - Spin Cycle (By The Throat) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVR17FPNv9I
Eyedea & Abilities - Now (E&A) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIcuDQ2uwkE

Whichever of the three you like best, you should go with that album. :flower: All three are very different.

Also, just wondering, you're a Sadistik fan correct? Or you at least enjoyed Flowers for my Father? Just wanted to point out that Sadistik is heavily influenced by Eyedea (obviously). Plus you're probably missing a lot of his Eyedea line references on "Micheal".

Album. the song is also a favourite though. Never minded the production on the project, I've actually always enjoyed it.

Yes everyone learn the genius that is Eyedea

In college I had to write a paper analyzing a piece of literature or a song or something so I did it on Smile. I read a lot of the philosophy Eyedea was influenced by and made me appreciate his music that much more.

Nah, I struggle listening to that album front to back :coffee: I always end up reverting back to his other albums.

Yo Willy, you grow to love the loud, messy production of By The Throat.

Well I've listened to it a fair amount and I don't think I will... I'm not a fan of his flow or the production at all. I'm also not big on his writing style... seems really generic and doesn't move or impact me. Like.. Class's favorite line of all time doesn't make me feel anything.

Stuff like.. "I'm lonely but everyone is loney so atleast I know I'm not alone" .. just isn't impressive nor does it have any effect on me. I don't know maybe he's just not my thing.

But I'll give another album a go before I make my mind.

What makes Eyedea so great is his ability to understand human thoughts and emotions and translate them into his lyrics. He has a deep understanding of pain and suffering through connection and is able to express it in really creative ways. He's really in touch with himself emotionally. Like crash band has said though, you have to be a little bit crazy and know where he's coming from to "get" his music. If you've never felt the way he does you won't be able to relate to it and probably won't like it.

I know I love it. Eyedea's verse is amazing too. Every word bounces off the one before it in such a perfect manner. The constant patter of similar syllables sounds awesome.
