Every CD critics gave it a 3, then 3
Years later, they'd go back and re-rate it
And call the Eminem show the greatest
encore was a classic
Relapse was fantastic
But recovery just didn't have the caliber to match it
I guess enough time just ain't passed, yet
A couple more years, that shit'll be ill-matic
And eight years later, I'm still at it
Divorce, re-married
A sober father

Em isn't in his prime anymore, he's still the man and a great emcee today. Music evolves, if Em stayed how he was in 1999-2002, he may not have been able to progress and stay relevant. I don't want an artist to make the same album over and over again. A big reason I love Em is NONE of his albums sound the same.

But The Eminem Show was vintage slim, also.. Songs like Soldier? Whew

The Eminem Show, while technically Shady, is where the line became a lot thinner. Shady's always been a part of Eminem, but the line between Shady and Marshall was a lot more extreme in 1999-2001. Starting 2002, Shady could be classified as Eminem too, with Business Without Me, Superman, and Drips being some of the "Slim Shady" songs on the album. Cold Wind Blows is the closest to real Shady so far after 2001.

Props for this post. I felt the closest so far was one bit in the 2011 BET Cypher.... "Yeah, big deal- I took some little kids Big Wheel 'n spit in his Big Kid's Meal"
Seems to me "Cold Wind Blows" also has that blur between Shady and Eminem that you mentioned- and some of my fave lines on that album
