Ok I think people lost the point of the thread. The point, I'm sure, is not what he means by it. We get it. The point is that word doesn't mean what he wanted it to. Point fingers and call people stupid all you want, but the issue isn't that we don't get what he's saying, just that the way he said it was stupid.

Not really. One of the main points of slang terms is that they can be used in multiple ways. I've used, and heard hella used in a ton of different ways. It's slang...has no official dictionary definition therefore, an be used pretty much any way seen fit.

Ok you just took what i said wrong. I didn't clarify. You're using it where it has no meaning at all. It has different variations on it's meaning so it can be used in diff situations....not ANYWHERE like i previously mistakenly inferred. You just randomly threw it in there where it wouldn't even fit

Well if it has no definition then I haven't used it where it doesn't fit. Em made up a definition for it, and so is everyone else (there's like 3 different ones in this thread) so I did too.

-This thread is tired anyway hella - here hella means dammit.
-Hella I'm glad I can use the word hella hella howhellaever I want hella to - here hella means although, fucking, fucking, me respectively
-Have hella a nice hella day, hella - here hella means "fuckin.... *pause as though thinking of what to say next*....", fucking, and a disrespectful name given to anyone that's not me respecticely.
-Oops, accidentally called hella you a hella - here hella means confused, as in "confused you" a confused version of you.
-I didn't mean hella it. - here hella means to say

My point here is that there is an improper way to use slang terms and I have heard people misuse them. And, in my opinion, people are just defending this use of the term because of their infatuation with the song. It's a good song, so I can imagine people don't want the flaws pointed out.

Exactly, I don't see how this is improper use. Hella pretty much means hell of a...shortened. That was the first version of it that i ever heard anyway

Almost 8 pages for this?

'Hella' = 'hell of a', If I'm not wrong.

I'm sorry, but you are all wrong (apparently there are not too many west coast users on here).

It's a slang word used as more or less a filler word, that can mean a multitude of things. Here are some examples:

"We are going to get hella drunk tonight."

"We are going to get hella money for this job."

"This guy working the front desk is hella bad at giving change."

These are the two most common uses of the word, neither of them meaning 'hell of a'. It's more like used in front of something to make it increase in both quantity and quality (severity if negative).

I moved out west from the midwest, and this word confused me for a while. But you would be surprised how quickly you start using this hella cool word in hella situations.

So Em's line, "Hella way to fuze it" is saying that the way he fuzed it is cool/better/increased.

I make elevating music, you make elevator music
Oh, he's too mainstream
Well, that's what they do when they get jealous, they confuse it
It's not hip hop, it's pop, cause I found a hella way to fuse it
With rock, shock rap with Doc
Throw on Lose Yourself and make 'em lose it

In addition to the idea that it is another way to say "hell of a," it also fits perfectly with the rhyme scheme. That's why the line was used this way, in this context.

hella works perfectly fine. "Hella" and "clever" mean two entirely different things,
" Life can change your directions, even when you ain't planned it
All you can do it handle it, worst thing you can do is panic
Use it to your advantage, avoid insanity manage
To conquer, every obstacle, make impossible possible
Even when winning illogical, losing is still far from optional.." -T.I.
