albums wouldn't leak if artists did digital releases first and then sent out hard copies the following week. I don't get why it doesn't happen like that.

Said something similar last night.

If they set it up so the only way you get a physical copy on release day is if you signed up to a mailing list, no albums would leak.

They're shipping physical copies in bulk. Not only is that not cost effective since you're producing how many you think you'll sell as opposed to an approximate number, you're always gonna be left with extras.

If you're mailing individual copies (like they're doing with those who preordered the deluxe) then it won't leak because the only other way to get it is through itunes/amazon etc on release day.

It's the shipping of 1.1 million random copies that's causing the leaks.

Not that I'm complaining. Just saying, the industry needs to get smarter if it wants to stop bleeding money

That's what I think. That's why when you pre ordered the album you had to choose expedited shipping if you wanted it on the 5th BC they said they will ship it on 10/31 so they could easily ship it on the 29th/30th and get it where it needs to be by the 5th

I think he means it won't leak from people who have a copy given to them officially by Interscope. Someone from the press or someone who works closely with this stuff. These things are obviously pressed and sitting in boxes on trucks somewhere, if one is taken from there, those wouldn't be tagged or anything. They would be regular CD's as usual. And how often do we really get leaks from somebody other than a warehouse or something like that.
