People respect Eminem, to the fullest.

Jay even referenced getting murdered on Renegade on A Star is Born, and I believe Kanye (though I hate him) said something along the lines of when everyone heard Ems Forever verse, he felt he had to go back and re write his shit because nothing was fucking with it.

People will hate on this, but it seems that Recovery and Hell the Sequel got Em his respect back in a sense.

Oh it definitely did. I think because he normalized his music. He dropped the weird accents and questionable subject matter and got serious.

I think he gets respect, but not as much as some of his peers. I'm not on any other hip hop forums but when I do an occasional lurk, Jay doesn't get nearly the same amount of hate that Em does. I don't think Jay has made a quality record since TBA and he's more so a business man than anything else, but he doesn't get hate.

And, really, that speaks to image more than anything. Kanye and Jay are more interested in creating an image. Because it's cool to listen to them. They rap about cool things. Cars, fancy labels, exotic vacations.

Eminem is rapping about homosexuals and vicodin haha.

Where was I going with this -- oh yeah...so I think his skin color + some of his material will prevent him from getting as much respect from other rappers that Jay does, but at the same time, no one will say anything because they know they'd get eaten up. How many rappers admit in interviews they'll beat everyone EXCEPT Eminem. Nobody wants to touch him. He's bad news.

There are rappers who DO take shots at Em though. But then again, look at what happened to every rapper who went at Em... Ja Rule is STILL feeling the effects from that shit.

My thinking is.. Look at The Warning. That in 2009 when he was just getting sharp again. Could you imagine what the fuck would happen if he dropped something like that in 2013, and aimed towards a rapper who disrespected him? He dropped something lethal and that was directed to a female pop star cause she denied a relationship with him. Just picture it.
