I represent everything, you take for granted
‘Cause Marshall Mathers the rapper’s persona's half a facade
And Matthew and Stan’s just symbolic
Of you not knowing what you had 'till it’s gone
‘Cause after all the glitz and the glam
No more fans that are calling your name, cameras are off
Sad, but it happens to all of them

The phrasing, especially around the Matthew/Stan section, is superb.

He really really went off on that last part.

The camera's off part made me a little sad because it will be a reality at some point.

At some point he's gonna stop making music and disappear from the public eye and we're gonna be saying "remember that Eminem dude? He was a beast."

That's why I feel bad for those who didn't enjoy this album or the entire hype around the album cycle in general. We don't know how many more times we're gonna get this.

im just completely taken a back by this album. i listened to the whole thing the first time today. I personally like all the hooks and beats save assholes beat. But wow, say what you will about the album, but nobody is touching this on a lyrical level. like holy fuck.
" Life can change your directions, even when you ain't planned it
All you can do it handle it, worst thing you can do is panic
Use it to your advantage, avoid insanity manage
To conquer, every obstacle, make impossible possible
Even when winning illogical, losing is still far from optional.." -T.I.

1st verse: insecure, no idea what to do.
2nd verse: starting to understand, exposing himself to opportunity
3rd verse: rain effect quiets, his voice is clear, and his words are confident.

Good shit.

This.
That is exactly why I fell in love with this song. Especially since I know so much about his life story and how he was a quiet, shy, helpless, kid who wasn't good at anything and had no future until he discovered rap. The way it gave him confidence to be more than a kid that gets picked on really hit me when I listened to Legacy for the first few times. Its a top 10 Eminem song of all time IMO. Hope it becomes a single

My thoughts exactly.

After looking at Rap Genius for every song on this album, I think this is the most lyrical album he's ever made. So many genius and clever lines in every song. It is amazing how intelligent and complex his lyrics are.

Someone help me I think my face is melting
If you felt these migraines and see these maggots eat my brain
This G-I-A
N-T hole in my empty head
If you read my mind you can see my pain
Then you'd see why I be this way
Ever since I was knee high playin' with G.I. Joe
I told these hoes shut their P-I-E holes, now peep my game
Cuz I'm bout it bout it

The lyrics are too vague and abstract tbh. Still hate the Monster, anyway.

That first verse is pretty damn impressive, but for some reason this song reminds me a lot of Recovery (could be the foot through the ceiling line).

Beautiful Pain is such a great song, only thing that gets me about it is the "mother, freak-in" flow/scheme. Other than that the song is beautifully done.

Yeah that part is a bit stand out, but very well written song.

It's not bad, just doesn't flow well.
