"Dick sucking lips" doesn't sting as hard as it does today when Jay-Z is gladly pounding Beyonce.
The line about Nas only having one hot album every 10 year average DOES sting as hard as it does today, because when was Nas's last "hot album", Life is Good?
Oh great, can't wait till 2022 for Nas's next cut...
Nas's last great album was in 2012. Nas's last project before Life Is Good was Distant Relatives in 2010, which takes a huge shit artistically, and rapping wise on WTT.
Jay's last good album was in 2007.
Ten toes down motherfucker I'm all in #Slumerican Team TRShady is shutting down so you better move there: www.HipHopShelter.com
Pac was probably the most bipolar artist in that regard, lol. Prodigy was a studio gangster but honestly who gives a fuck it's the quality of the music not the "realness" of the rapper. If pablo escobar released a rap album would taht be good cause he's the "realest" lol.

prodigy outside of the studio would talk tough like he was a gangster that is what i meant but like i said it is irrelevant all i care about is the music.
Alright, time to do ether I guess which has been relegated to playground insults the past few years which is just incorrect. I mean yeah it pokes fun at jay z in a humorous manner (from mocking him subtly like going "girls girls girls" on the foxy brown portion to bein more direct and just insulting his looks), now tell me how pervasive are those disses though and tell me how many people started comparing jay z to a camel post ether? Maybe I'm just a Nas stan but that third verse just gets me hyped as fuck as he pours gallons of acid over Jay'z face.
Also that hook has to be one of the most caustic in rap, where you really feel the weight off the disses and the effect of ether just as Nas intended, whereas Takeover had a pretty meh hook shouting irrelevent weed carriers.
As for the first verse that's how you build anticipation and ether's a lot more subtle than people give it credit it for. He directly challenges Jay'z lines being garbage and mentions how this all started since the beef originated with both of them coming from the crown of King of Ny ever since Big's death.
Also the
I am the truest; name a rapper that I ain't influenced
Is one of the truest self aggrandizing lines, at the time Nas was far more influential than jay z in setting trends whils the latter just hopped on the jiggy bandwagon (Nas did too). But I really don't need to point out illmatic's influence and how many people Nas' dick cause of that.
That this Gay-Z and Cockafella Records wanted beef Started cockin' up my weapon, slowly loadin' up this ammo To explode it on a camel and his soldiers I can handle this for dolo
Also I don't give a fuck how childish the "gay z" or "cockafella" insults are at the time they were a lot funnier, even though they are sorta dated in that regard. The camel line is still relevant and so many people won't stop comparing jay z to a camel cause of this, I'll reiterate how Ether is the more pervasive diss and ultimately wins because of that but it's insults still have a lot of substance to them despite what detractors say.
As for the camel and soldiers line, how many people care about Beanie Siegel and Memphis Bleek nowadays? :'''(
When KRS already made an album called Blueprint First Biggie's your man Then you got the nerve to say that you better than Big Dick suckin' lips Why don't you let the late, great veteran live
Pretty self explanatory but yeah, I hate the whole Jay'z paying homage copout it's been annoying. I'm not saying he's a straight biter it's the opposite of a catch 22, where if someone thinks Jay'z (reused big lines) are cool but have no idea who big is (and sadly there are many rap fans who haven't listened to big) he could just pull it off as being clever, and if he does get called out on biting he could just say LOLHOMAGE. It's a win-win situation for that nigga
Also the way jay always "paid homage" to biggie irked me, it's like he extrapolated lines mid verse and sneakily and sleazily tried to throw it into his verses discreetly without much change or personalization. Not to mention he takes random non-fresh big lines (or maybe lines from other rappers too) that aren't universal. It's like lazy sampling ala puffy who just recycled hooks rather than chopping it up and personalizing them.
Here's how a proper big sample is
From 215 it's him the livest one And he's representin Philly to the fullest Blacks the realest
I don't think people are puzzled as to what line black though is paying homage to yet he personalized this line
or another even better "homage" line
Straight out of London - crazy motherfucker named Psiklone From a mad clan of savage insane psychos
yeah do people not know what this line is paying homage too?
There are two reasons why these work as homages, one their done as intros to some of the most well known rap lines and given a unique spin on them that's personalized like say (detroit state of mind-NY state of mind). And the lines are universal and any rap fan or music fan worth their salt knows what these referring too.
as opposed to this
Also let it be known that Nas actually challenged Biggie for the king of NY when he was alive, yet Jay was his J cole. loll, and he constantly digs up his grave every song to give his "bud" the best head and constantly say lolll, I'm Big's homie and he left me the crown to king of NY.
Do I rly need to breakdown that insane third verse?
Alright
Y'all niggas deal with emotions like bitches What's sad is I love you cause you're my brother You traded your soul for riches
While nas shouldn't be throwing stones since he also attempted mainstream appeal with disastrous results, Jay himself even admits to dumbing down his lyrics to sell more.
What true "lyricist" admits that shit? loll
As far as the ugly disses are concerned, Slim fiasco mentioned this in another thread how these have a lot of sting. Yeah we think it's childish and gay, but seriously being told your ugly especially when it's your natural looks and not cause your fat or anything does sting. Also did we forget that Jay z cried on the radio? loll
In 88 you was getting chased through your building Calling my crib and I ain't even give you my numbers
Showed how nas won't even give Jay the time of day and jay of course felt slighted by that gesture. Which is one of the catalysts to the beef in the first place. Can we say
You a fan, a phony, a fake, a pussy, a Stan I still whip your ass, you thirty-six in a karate class You Tae-bo ho, tryna' work it out, you tryna' get brolic
Although these don't have much substance and are just insults, I still get a good chuckle out of them. Also Nas polarized the term stan, despite being Eminem's song most people started using stan as a derogatory term post ether. (Shouts to Satire)
Ask me if I'm tryna' kick knowledge Nah, I'm tryna' kick the shit you need to learn though That ether, that shit that make your soul burn slow
This is one of the freshest flips out there, again not much substance but a truly caustic line and you really feel the weight of it as nas bitchsmacks jay again. A lot of ether's charm and reason why it ran away so highly at the time is because of how showy yet it is. I guess you can say if this was a poltical debate Nas is a much more enticing speaker who knows how to entertain the crowd (ironic), and only recently have people really started to run with takeover as the better diss.
Foxy got you hot cause you kept your face in her puss What you think, you getting girls now cause of your looks
The girls girls girls chant in the background is hilarious and I for some reason just noticed it recently, hence ether's subtelty. I think a lot of people are forgetting that a good diss like any rap battle has to be "entertaining" and somewhat funny, which is why ether such a success and a good diss track. Yet beyond the superficial insults are substantial jabs that resonated with jay on a personal level.
You ass, went from Jaz to hanging with Kane, to Irv, to Big And Eminem murdered you on your own shit
This is definitely true Jay had to climb up in the racks by being a knob shiner whereas Nas established his own career with a legendary hip hop album @ 21. lol
As for the eminem portion I don't agree with it, but because of this line people will leave jay alone and refuse to look at the song objectively. Now tell me who mentions oochie wally as a diss to nas? Of course not, it's always the best tracks that are brought up not when a rapper drunkenly stumbles into the studio with a hungover verse.
Tell me how many verses Nas killed as a guest feature?
Oh there's verbal intercourse and Eye for an Eye (underrated) as well as murking jay on black republican. Whereas Jay arguably got outshined by big on brooklyn's finest and of course renegade. LOL
How much of Biggie's rhymes is gonna come out your fat lips Wanted to be on every last one of my classics
The fact that jay had to address these allegations with "Im not a biter I'm a writer" shows it's definitely something that can't be brushed off. Personally I don't rly give a fuck if Jay's a biter, I'm just a giving a different perspective that needs to be addressed.

hahah, yeah, I mean it's a really mean thing. Like, it's not even your fault cause you were born that way and yet ugly features can be the inspiration for great humor, it can get people rolling on their asses. Even if you have your ego handled and know your values i.e. not get upset about it, I still think the only counter to that would be self-deprecation (shout out to Eminem), and with Jay acting classy and taking himself more seriously than let's say an Eminem, that's kinda messy.
^that's an extremely good point jay'z not exactly known for self depreciating lyrics, which is why ether was quick cut to the jugular like no other. It's funny as hell and it's more subtle than people give it credit for, ether that is.
and I do know what ur doing class btw, also just to reiterate I'm NOT a jay z hater and I love TBA and RD and kinda even like the blueprint. Hell I might even prefer his verses on renegade.
