Now it's time to make a sales comparison between Recovery and MMLP2. Once again, I know Recovery was out in 2010 and it's not compareable with a release in 2013 but still. We are nearing Christmas, so sales tend to be higher... (Or guess not).

Recovery

1. 741,000 copies sold.
1. 313,292 copies sold.
1. 229,296 copies sold.
1. 195,000 copies sold.
1. 187,187 copies sold.

Total: 1.665.775 copies sold.

VS

Marshall Mathers LP 2

1. 792,000 copies sold.
2. 210,000 copies sold.
1. 120,000 copies sold.
2. 199,183 copies sold.
6. 84,000 copies sold.

Total: 1.405.183 copies sold.

I gotta say he totally dominated the sales in 2010. I mean to sell those copies in such a quiet sales month (Along with August). Shows my disappointment with the MMLP2 album sales.

I know I'm probably crying over such a nonsense thing. As the difference is just at 260k. But dunno. Thats just me probably.

And Beyonce did 618k. MMLP2 still the 2nd best in first week sales.

82k was pretty good :)

Umm that's the point. August and the summer on the whole is typically a slow period in album sales. Very few artists release in the summer time which means that Em likely had far less competition than he would releasing in the fall which everyone knows is the BIGGEST period for releasing albums.

That's always been a common factor because Fall means Black Friday sales. But once you're past that, there has to be the inevitable drop off for a week or two when all the Christmas albums start to sell which will all go away by the last week of December.

I am sorry, I find the whinging about Em's sales really, really annoying. Beyonce pulled what is probably one of the biggest marketing strategies ever to sell her album and she STILL couldn't surpass his first week sales. It took Justin Timberlake being absent from music for 7 years for him to outsell Em's first week and yet people are bitching? The album just sold pretty much exactly the same amount this week as it did last week and there's still whinging? Like what you all do if you were a fan of some other artist like Britney Spears who just dropped all the way to #21 in her second week or Gaga who is struggling to go Gold.

Honestly speaking, MMlp 2 deserves more sales, BUT only judging from the singles, I don't think they really helped as much as NA & LTWYL. If they release Beautiful Pain, Headlights, Bad Guy, even though the radio perhaps won't play them as heavily as Monster, but the genuine spirit of those songs will spread. And the genuine Em is what people love. I really hope they STOP doing songs like Monster(or Numb) it creates some media buzz, yet it loses credibility.

By looking at how big the music market is in japan I'm slightly curious as to why eminem doesn't try and promote over there? His sales are really poor there
