smh why do you even care
because I'd like to believe it takes more than that to acquire such dominion over this website.

Charlotte is an active and well liked member, so why not be asked to become a mod? If someone asks of course you'd say yes. Most people would.

Wait did that really make sense in your head when you wrote it? I'm gonna give you the opportunity to review and revise that sentence before I say anything.

What? No that's ridiculous. Have you ever moderated a forum before? It's far from enjoyable, it's a 24/7 job that almost always ends in you being disliked by a large group of people. This applies to nearly any position of authority in life. What makes you think most people would want to participate in that?

lol it was worded strangely. What I meant was that she is an active member and is also well liked by most members on here, as far as I know. She was asked if she wanted to become a mod because of both of those things. She's on here anyway, why not help out?

As for the second part you wrote, I agree, if that mod lets the power go to their head. If you change from being a nice person to someone on a power trip, then yes you will become disliked. As long as you don't change, neither should people's opinions on you. Then again, this place is extremely judgmental a lot of the time and I think people will hate others just because they move up before them.

For someone who is downplaying becoming a mod, you sound angry that you're not one instead

As a member I have every right to care about who moderates this site, and in fact you should be encouraging me to do so. This isn't a dictatorship, as demonstrated by this thread.
HeySamantha wrote:What I meant was that she is an active member and is also well liked by most members on here, as far as I know. She was asked if she wanted to become a mod because of both of those things. She's on here anyway, why not help out?
You're telling me she was approached with a moderator position because she is active and liked? Neither of these things are a determining factor in the criteria necessary towards moderating a forum. What is however a necessary factor is their ability to objectively moderate. jesus christ i feel like i'm talking to a child here.

It has nothing to do with any of this. Police are a perfect example, being the person who enforces things upon other adults means almost automatic disdain the moment you do something someone else disagrees with. Which in a large enough community is impossible to avoid.
HeySamantha wrote:For someone who is downplaying becoming a mod, you sound angry that you're not one instead
I'm not downplaying anything, nor do I have the time or patience to moderate another site, why are you being so presumptuous? I'm not bitter, I simply don't understand how someone who's been here since april has worked their way up to a moderator position this fast, if it was over some niche section like computing I'd understand, but this isn't the case.
SajN wrote:I don't regret that she became a mod. She has done a good job.
That's not what I'm asking sajn.

Elision: maybe you aren't bitter, but it sure comes off as you are. She's a mod because someone asked her if she wanted to be one and she said yes. tbh it's really not that big of a deal and we should get back on topic anyway :flower:
