I just feel like it isn't Em's priority anymore to build a strong label. Keep in mind, while that was happening he was on the slide to becoming a producer and what not, because that's what he wanted. After coming back from his drug addiction he probably feels like he needs to focus on his self. Although that is sort of selfish.

The label is trying to find ways to make money in a world where records don't make money. We're already in August and not one rap album released this year so far has sold Gold yet. Even Iggy, with 5 different songs on the radio all summer hasn't even cracked 300K yet. The entire concept of a label is useless at this point, nobody is gonna buy your music anyway. Last year, Eminem & Justin Timberlake were the best sellers of the year and they barely cracked Double platinum, and most of that is because they've been in the game 15 years and have older fans that still remember what a record store looks like. These new cats can't sell shit no matter how much radio play they get, and Shady records hasn't found a way to wrap their heads around that concept yet.

Slaughterhouse & Yelawolf should just go independent and Shady should close it's doors for good. SH & Yela have a maximum selling potential of about 150K-200K no matter how good or bad their records are. And they'll sell that much on their own or signed. Case & Point, Yela sold just as many copies of "Trunk Muzik 0-60" as he did "Radioactive". Better to just keep the bigger portion yourself, have the freedom to release music when and how you want to without having to do everything you make as a free downloadable mixtape or bending over backwards to follow label protocols that will never get results anyway.

Em should just focus on himself. He's one of the last musicians left who can actually push over 2 million copies, even despite the constant complaints about everything he has released over the last 10 years. He'll be able to pack out a stadium when he's old and gray. Paul Rosenberg should just be satisfied with the undying cash cow that is Marshall Mathers and stop wasting everybody's time with a label that is never going to produce any results.

Even before the record industry fell completely the fuck apart they weren't very good at their job. Obie Trice struggled his way to platinum while Em was selling Diamond, D12 has become the go to definition of a Group with One Star that nobody cares about, Ca$his, Bobby Creekwater & Stat Quo never even got release dates...... The only successful artist to ever come from that label was 50 Cent, and that had alot more to do with 50 himself then anything else. People try to forget that Eminem and Dre had to win a bidding war against multiple companies to win his services, they had to cough up a million dollar signing bonus because he had already created a strong Buzz through his mixtapes and other labels had made offers. 50 was gonna be somebody in the game regardless, Em & Dre might have made him bigger, but he would have still got on.

^^ Thanks

I mean, seriously, I was exaggerating on the yelawolf thing, TM0-60 sold 110K and Radioactive sold less then 190K

But Is 80K more in sales really worth it when you figure in that he has another group of people taking a slice of the profits. Not to mention that almost all Major label artists have to sign 360 deals, meaning he's given up a chunk of his show money to them as well, and I seen Yela live 2 years ago, his crowds ain't huge like that to begin with.

If anything, he's probably breaking even with the money he made before they came along. Only thing he's really gained from Shady is higher profile, but it hasn't made people buy his shit or flock to his shows.

He should take a page from the Tech N9ne playbook and do his own shit. Tech sells between 150-200K every time he drops, but without that corporate hand in his pocket, those numbers put him on the forbes list.

It's all moot anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if both Love Story and Glass House get shelved, at least in 2011 - 2012 there was a little hype around these cats, now though, lol, there numbers are gonna be even worse, the company might actually lose money on the shit.

Radioactive was the highest user voted album on XXL's AOTY poll, above WTT, Take Care & Carter IV.

I'd say it was pretty liked.

YOD is dope.

However, I think if he DOES sign to shady, like others have said here, it will expose and expand his fan base more. BUT, the possibility of an album coming out on Shady is slim to none.. don't hold your breath people.

Side note: I believe one day, Em will break free from Interscope.. One can only hope and dream. :flutter: Now that Jimmy is out of the picture, I can see it happening. Before the Beats deal with Apple, nope not a chance.

How much did it sell compared to WTT, Take Care, & IV?

Record labels don't care about AOTY polls.....

I wasn't refering to labels, because they obviously only care for sales, especially Interscope.

I was refering to the people that were calling Radioactive trash and that it was hated by common hip hop fans.

Yeah, but I started to think about the label strategy to drop Shady XV first, and then fast SH and Yela albums.
