Bad Guy only really picks up in the 3rd verse (I consider the 4th verse one of the best he has done in years), Baby, Brainless and Evil Twin and Groundhog Day are boring, generic songs without substance where he's really off-beat. It mostly sounds like he's just talking fast over the beat with terrible interruptions to emphasize mediocre punchlines. Rap God was impressive on first listen (except for the lyrics, which were all completely random), but only from a technical perspective. It doesn't really matter though if the song itself is shit. Furthermore, everyone is so taken aback by the fast rapping part, but anyone who practices that can do it.Mind boggling. For the record, I'm not a praise everything regardless Stan like most on here. I actually didn't like the accents on Relapse either, aside from a few songs like 3AM, Stay Wide Awake, Same Song and Dance, etc.
The only songs where his delivery was acceptable on Relapse were Deja Vu (a masterpiece), Insane (horrible), My Mom (decent) and Underground (might be his worst song of all time). The 3 songs you mention are among Relapse's worst songs lol. 3AM has a great beat (as does most of the album), but Eminem ruins it with a combination of a awkward flow and, again, random lyrics about mannequins and Hannah Montana's boobs. Stay Wide Awake is often praised but it's a piece of shit. Anyone can rhyme entire verses when you're rapping about bullshit like "Jumped out on you now like I was a Jawa from fuckin' star wars, Jabba the Hut be di bye bye, be di bye bye it's time to die die". Same Song & Dance was supposed to be clever but it's execution was elementary. But I agree in large part on these snippets with you. Aside from Shady XV, Fine Line.....Idk
Die Alone sounds like it should have stayed in the vault. Vegas....I could see it going bad, but maybe he'll relax and flow naturally a little bit, we'll see.
By the sound of it all songs go into the trash except Fine Line. He actually strikes a good melody there in the chorus, unusual for contemporary "singer" Eminem.
