American music isn't very followed by Europeans...

Postby DarkSouled » Aug 25th, '08, 15:43

People think that europeans listen esclusively to american music... but statistics proove that it ain't so... especcially for country and rap music... Rap music is considered the music for the people who have lived hard lives in ghettos and to make their way of living they had to go against the law... in fact most rappers in their life have been in prison or they are criminal minded, not very appriciated from the americans, so who tries to make his way to sucess also in europe, fails...
Only one rapper makes an exeption between all of them... Eminem...

moved it to Entertainment section.

as for the american music, i don't think it's true. when i turn on the radio, it's mostly american music. thank god, because polish pop sucks big erm.. you know. -.-

@ rap: people who don't listen to rap look at it as a 50 Cent type of music. so basically 'fuck-bitch-suck-my-dick-i'm-gangsta' music. no need to explain why, because it's obvious.

gotta agree with Yoshi on this one. i think American music is kinda listened to by everybody at some point. as far as your rap comment, the reason why Eminem is your "exception" for Europeans is cuz the reason for most of those European fans is the same reason for most of his American fans. half of Eminem's fans don't listen to rap music. put two and two together man. if half his American fans don't listen to other rap artists, then half his European fans don't listen to other rap artists, which means he's got the same amount of rap specific fans in Europe as the other good rappers. quality not quantity.

I agree with the both things you said, about american music and rap.

Here in Norway, rap/hip-hop/RnB dominates the "big" radios and TV-channels.
But of course, as Yoshi said, it's 50 Cent type of music... so that's fucked up..

And if you ask someone about Eminem or 2Pac, they will say that these two are the only rappers who are serious .. :zipped:

I'm not sure about that...You may be right about rap music, it's quite unpopular in almost every where except for America. But Europeans do actualyl listen to American Pop & Rock music.

American music is everywhere, and it's not letting talented European bands shine.

As for the 50 Cent thing, it is unfortunately true that that's practically all hip hop has been reduced to. Ask a modern day hip hop fan who Beastie Boys or Dun-DMC are and they'll likely "bang you up, blad"

Lol the only "problem" is that even over here American music is played almost all the time, so much so that people are forgetting their roots. Like that other guy said, European acts aren't getting the chance because 13 year old girls would much rather hear the next Rihanna song.

It's nothing to do with condemning American music from getting out of America, but i'm just saying; imagine how all you Americans would feel if suddenly your stations started playing Akala 10 times a day. There'd be uproar.

umm that's exactly how most of us feel, regardless if it's american music, it's still shitty, there's nas or rakim or royce or big l, or xzibit, only pop artists. i'd prefer to hear akala than them.

most of the music our radio stations plays are american or finnish. ...and i usuallu shut down the radio when they start playing some shitty finnish pop music (you really should hear some of that... your ears would start bleeding :scratching: ) ......but all american rap music they play here are usually 50 cent type.... and that just pisses me offf ](*,)
