The Simpsons is my all-time favorite cartoon. I love both series's. Family Guy's recent season (season seven) was fucking terrible though! The writing for FG has just turned terrible. Unfunny extended gags, pointless cutaways, terrible execution of plots, etc.

The Simpsons has indeed declined in quality, but I would choose Season 20 (most recent Simpsons season) over FG's Season Seven ANYDAY! I just love the Simpsons.....of course they would decline after all of those years, it just happened that it took longer for The Simpsons to decline than it did to FG which has been declining ever since it was brought back and I still loved it. I stuck around for Season Seven and was extremely displeased. lmao...hopefully Season Eight is better.

BTW, I agree with Chet. American Dad > Family Guy. Better gags, better plots, better characterization, etc. I am also an avid American Dad! and South Park fan as well. I just love Animated comedies....

The simpsons doesn't need 10 minute flashbacks to be funny, if those fucking flashbacks weren't there The episodes wouldn't be as long, therefore the whole show would come tumbling down without the chicken fights or whatever. The simpsons doesn't need that though, they don't do flashbacks at all. If there is any (which I can't think of any.) they don't drag on for 10 minutes. And the whole yellow thing being unrealistic, The fucking dog talks and the baby wants to take over the world. Its a cartoon it's not supposed to be realistic.

There are occasional 5-20 second flashbacks every 5-20 episodes in the simpsons, and when they do it, it usually goes with the plot, they don't make a chicken fight scene that goes on for literally 1/4 of the episode, plus with all the flash back scenes it just adds up to half of episode has to go with the plot. PLUS, family guy (and american dad) cheat the audience. I tried giving american dad a try once, and I was starting to like it... then suddenly a mouse supposedly stopped bad guys about to cut off this guy's leg for money and saved the day, while a tough dog with sharp teeth didn't and ran into a wall and didn't bother standing back up. was that supposed to be funny?


And Brian... the talking dog. Why do most dogs in family guy don't talk, while Brian does? his mom didn't talk (yes, i watched part of an episode, but only because nothing else was on) and how the hell does brian talk while his mom doesn't?
