Tash8 wrote:just cause you remember eminem as the white boy with bleach hair, doesn't mean shit... i'm sorry but class doesn't mean shit, when it comes down to vs.. i'm looking at who's music I enjoy better, and if you say Nas, then you have to be frontin, cause half his songs are about the ghetto, and i am sure you haven't lived in the ghetto.

I'm not the only one who remembers him that way. Encore, Curtain Call or Relapse didn't have impact as big as SSLP, he's still one of pop-culture icons, like it or not.

For me class means alot. I never said it's the most important factor, now that'd be fucking retarded, but.. let's take Lil' Wayne and Soulja Boy and compare them to Talib, Mos or Nas. Even by looking at them, without judging their music, you can see which one is an actual artist and which one of them is a fucking clown.

Lyrically, it's hard to tell who's better. Both are great, both got verses that I'll remember for the rest of my life, both got verses that I didn't like. Plus, you guys know way more about all that multiple/internal rhymes crap than me :p

Just because I don't live in the ghetto, doesn't mean I can't enjoy the music. In this case, I'd have to be fronting about enjoying Eminem's music too, because I've never done drugs, I've never divorced, I ain't got a kid, I've never had black/white issues and I surely haven't been to jail. Furthermore, my whole passion for hip hop music would be a huge mistake and a big fat lie.

and remember yoshi, i'm the one who agreed with you about Stillmatic being better than Illmatic, so you do know I listen to Nas and love him as an artist.

Lol I remember that and you know I'm not the type of person that would start talk shit just because, at some point, we have different opinions. I said Nas, but hey - Nas & Eminem are still in the top.. 10 rappers of all the time. :b:

ok i understand what your saying, i agree with the class part, but just cause someones images is portrayed in a pop light doesn't mean he necessarily is.. yes eminem does have the poppy songs like my name is but nas has his corny songs with I Can, just cause it hasn't gotten him as famous or popular as eminem doesn't mean he's not poppy as well..nas just tends to keep it more serious than most, but then i again i love light hearted rap as well, you can't always be serious, it gets boring after a while...I was happy to see Fried Chicken with Busta on Untitled because it helped me listen to the album without getting annoyed by all the serious topics, but he doesn't have enough of those songs... he's just tooo serious, his only album i can listen to front to back is stillmatic (yes it's mostly all serious but it's just that amazing)

why do you think nas has to make an album where he only has 50 minutes of playtime? because add 5 more tracks like them and we'd get bored 3/4th of the way thru the album.. i mean just look at Relapse, shit was tight but the topics were too similar and got boring quick

yea it's cool, it's an actual debate with factual information, something rarely seen on this forum since ASP and Fordie stopped having them.

But that's what makes Illmatic better. Nas knew when to stop. Don't you think so?

no, i prefer an artist who can give me a complete dope album rather than just their 10 best songs... if eminem did that wiht MMLP, SSLP, TES then all those albums would shit on illmatic...

And if they did, Stillmatic and God's Son outshine them all.

Actually, Stillmatic >>> Illmatic IMO. I honestly admit, I don't listen to Illmatic too often, I love the lyrics, but it just sounds boring. Stillmatic is way more diverse.

Termin8ter, you either prove your point with some reasonable arguments or stick your keyboard up your ass to prevent yourself from posting shit.

Lol @ the irony, 'I Can' happens to be one of my favorites :p I just love the positive message it has. It's like.. a light in the darkness rofl because most of his songs have this dark aura around them.

Although I like light-hearted rap too, I prefer the serious part of it. I think the reason why Nas is that serious most of the time, is that he knows that he'd probably lose alot of the credit streets give him. The way I see it, is that those people who come from the same hood, from the ghettos, don't wanna songs about bubbly life, they need someone who'd understand what they go through and Nas is just like that. Even though he's on the top of the world now, he's still one of them.

stillmatic = TES
illatic = MMLP

that's the way i compare the two, but really if eminem cut out a few tracks like illmatic, MMLP would be wayyy better.. just cause it's a front to back album like illmatic

and that's my California State of Mind for you.

I have tried, I used to dig One Mic and The Message but then it got boring to me after a while.
So I havent really been into Nas.

It all depends on preference... I can relate more to Nas than Eminem, but I like 'em both.
