"I shoveled shit all my life, and now I'm dumping it on... WHITE AMERICA"

As well as being a beautiful transistion from verse to chorus, it's another briliantly crafted social point, linking his childhood to his music so seemlessly. The metaphor is relatively simple but still conjurs up great imagery, for me.

Masterpiece of a song.

So I did.

But still, that line deserves it.

"Or am I just another crab in the bucket?
'Cause I ain't having no luck with this little rabbit so fuck it

Maybe I need a new outlet
I'm starting to doubt shit
I'm feeling a little skeptical who I hang out with"

This passage is one of the reasons 8 Mile is probably my favourite Eminem song. The way he rapidly spits those first two lines in such a frustrated tone show that he is on the verge of giving up, thoroughly depressed and about to scrap his aspiration of blowing up as an MC. The verbal energy creates so much passion, it's unbelievable.
I'm not trying to attack new Eminem here once again, but you will never find such genuinely felt emotion in ANY of his new songs.

"My split personality is having an identity crisis
Dr Hyde and Mr Jekyll, disrespectful
Hearing voices in my head while these whispers echo"

tbh that whole song is underappreciated.

One of my favorite lines is from Bitch Please II.
And I've just recently started listening to this song, as I would always avoid it whenever I listened to the MMLP, but I saw Amadeo's signature and I decided to give this song a try.

But.. some of my favorite lines are..
Eminem wrote:What in the world gives me the right
To say what I like, and walk around flipping the bird
Living the urban life, like a white kid from the 'burbs

Such a great line, he reminds us that we as Americans do have freedoms and we are allowed to say what we want and do what we want!

Another one..
Eminem wrote:I just want you all to notice me and people to see
That somewhere deep down, there's a decent human being in me
It just can't be found

Another great line, reminds us that there is a normal person somewhere deep down in Eminem and that person is Marshall, the caring loving father. I also like how he includes "it just can't be found" because it reminds us that most of the time we are seeing Slim Shady, or Eminem, we rarely see Marshall.

That's all I could think of. :flutter:

^Talking of that song...

It's just me being me, here want me to tone it down?
Suck my fuckin dick, you faggot: You happy now?

Absolutely brilliant - it's pretty much MMLP in a nutshell.

Come back, shoot the eyewitness
Fire at the private eye hired to pry in my business"

Multi's here smothered like crazy, more than Relapse and undoubtably smoother. crazy verse. :worship:

I love all of Criminal's third verse, but the beginning of it is amazing. :worship: :worship: :worship:

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

MikeNUFC wrote:"I shoveled shit all my life and now I'm dumping it on white America"

It's a beautifully smooth transisition from verse to chorus and links perfectly his feelings as someone living in poverty to his feelings since he blew up. It also produces a great bit of imagery (for me anyway).

I also love this line from My Name Is:

"Well since age twelve, I've felt like I'm someone else/Cause I hung my original self from the top bunk with a belt"

Really clever introduction of the slim shady character. It's also hilarious. Whole song is underappreciated, in fact.

Yeah I dont really understand why people dont like "My Name Is." Every verse has classic shady quotables throughout like..

C'mere slut! (Shady, wait a minute, that's my girl dog!)
I don't give a fuck, God sent me to piss the world off!

Ninety-nine percent of my life I was lied to
I just found out my mom does more dope than I do (Damn!)
I told her I'd grow up to be a famous rapper
Make a record about doing drugs and name it after her (Oh thank you!)

Am I coming or going? I can barely decide
I just drank a fifth of vodka -- dare me to drive? (Go ahead)

People get caught up in the catchy chorus and beat and think its obnoxious, but the lyrics make it easy for me to get into.

Because this line is certainly ridiculous to many people.
I think the term is ...mockery of myself. :sweating:
