Aone10 wrote:Yea? How?

By bringing up Em's (good but generic) battle punchlines and saying he would destroy anyone.

Thinking his punchlines would be far more clever.

Thinking that blowing up is correlated with being a good battle rapper.

Complaining that his music isn't much to base off to say Eminem would probably lose.

edit: It's a pretty annoying rule when you are trying to respond to two posts. Especially if you are on your phone or something.

Again, I think you should stop arguing for his side.

Yes, I think the battle from Cruger was good and I think he is a good battler. I also think there are many better battles out there.

And no. Eminem has never had good punchlines, lol. I agree that he is one of the best writers in hip-hop. But so is Slug, and he can't write amazing punchlines either. So you haven't supported that claim. Why do you think his punchlines would be far more clever?

Okay, well now you are implying that being a better all round artist has a correlation with being a better battle rapper - which it doesn't.

I was just pointing out the irony, it's quite funny.
if you judge how someone will do in a battle based off their music, then you are fucking retarded

Are you retarded then? By your own definition.

Making music and battling are two different things. I don't think people here understand that. Just because Eminem is a great writer doesn't mean he will be a great battler.

The best punch Em could think of recently was "I'ma put this shit in park like dog shit."

This is what I have had the problem with really.

I personally think that Em could have competed with the best top-tiers. (Although, not in freestyle format).

But for people to ignorantly think Em would "demolish" all/most of the battle rappers - it's just stupid.

Based off his generic written punches that aren't exceptional compared to other top-tiers generic written punches and his diss tracks - which are very good. But definitely aren't leagues above other top-tiers best battles.

And now he's acting like a bully
So he tries to push and pull me
But he knows that he can't fool me so he's mad
He has no choice but to scream
And raise his voice up at me
Cause it annoys him to see that I ain't scared

To think Illmaculate, TheSaurus or Pat Stay could not write bars like this or an equivalent for one of their battles, is ludicrous.

Yeah, but Em has a great track-record with his diss tracks.

Which is pretty good evidence for him being a capable battler - but that's just about it.

Yep. I don't know much about how this new-age of battling goes down, but from what I've seen, people rely heavily on punches. Kid Twist is one of the few battlers I've watched a couple times.

Why doesn't someone make a thread with all the good rap battles and keep it updated as new ones are released? Plzzzz

Yeah but it's not like the thread I described. I watched a video from it last night (unanimous and someone else vs 2 others haha.. It was on the last page I think). Anyway my point is that thread isn't specifically for rap battle videos so it's hard to find quality material in it.

Yeah, true.

You could start from the beginning but it would take a while.

I think all these are great battles:
Twist vs Dumbfoundead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsg8fLNgZ80

Twist vs Eurgh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ly6kvzk4Bfg

Twist vs Fresco http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJXPWr6hY4s

TheSaurus vs Eurgh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWeaRlB4B8g

TheSaurus vs Mac Lethal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMojiIJVZvE

TheSaurus vs Justice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1tA6oJuFzA

TheSaurus vs Dumbfoundead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Zf9icAmGDc

TheSaurus vs Real Deal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pg_dsFehW4w

TheSaurus vs Illmaculate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSdziAMwsDQ

TheSaurus vs Pat Stay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N456fch9rrg

Soul Khan vs Fresco http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2VM0kpymPw

They're all battles where both battlers have put out good performances.

Then you start to like certain battlers and watch them even if the battler they're versing isn't great. For instance, Eurgh has a great performance against PH. Soul Khan, Cruger and Pat Stay have a lot of great performances. Also, Possessed from Rhyme Asylum used to be a beast with punchlines.

Just search their names vs __ and results should pop up on youtube.

Blu actually said what I think, and amadeo touched on a few things I agree with as well. As talented as Em was in his prime, I wouldn't put it past him to beat some of the battle greats. That being said, I would likely bet against him in such scenario.

Eminem was monstrous at making diss tracks, my only question is if he'd be able to tie them together into a hard hitting verse that could last 3 rounds. I'm having trouble seeing him make that transition. Punches aren't generally his strong suit but you can win without having great punches. So I dunno, it would be fun to entertain.

In no way would Eminem destroy them though. In any era. There's some fucking skilled battlers out there.

Em has had good punchlines.

"I'll run your brain around the block to jog your fucking memory"

Many decent ones off Infinite.

And that's actual PUNS but, if we're talking ironic punchlines, he used to be genius at it...

"You only live once - you may as well die now!"

"I don't promote violence, I just encourage it"

And he's one of the only rappers ever who was GENUINELY funny. Not like a 'haha, cool' kind of funny but in a way that Gervais called him a comic genius. His humour would be a huge plus in any battle, even now it's fucking funny - "Newsflash: I'm still trash".
