In terms of vegetarians or the lifestyle of eating solely plants, plants are composed of primarily cellulose. Humans cannot digest cellulose and therefore, cannot get glucose from it to create ATP. ATP is, essentially, your cell's energy to perform what it needs to do in the body. This is why some vegetarians find themselves eating beans and fish and breads and things of that nature. Now, to say that is morally right or better to not eat meat is an irrelevant statement. Some people can monetarily not afford to not eat meat. One cannot simply be a vegetarian and to think so is to be naive. The majority of humans, through history, were never vegetarians - it was simply not a biologically sustainable lifestyle; hence, the emergence of the hunting lifestyle. We are omnivores because that is what we are through biology, not because we are inconsiderate of the well-being of animals. Thus, eating animals is not wrong, it is a way and product of nature.
Killing animals for the sake of killing is a different conversation completely. I can understand an argument for animal rights regarding vegetarianism but ONLY if the individual presenting the argument is referring to the issue of factory farming (specifically the cruelty of treatment the animals may receive). It is not wrong to kill and eat an animal because, like class said, animals will not hesitate to eat you and your children and your mom and everyone you know. It is natural for us to consume animals.
People who humanize animals are thinking under the presupposition that animals feel the SAME emotions and derive the SAME meanings that humans do which is inaccurate as there is no legitimate evidence that would lead us to such conclusions. I can't stand when people do this (not saying anyone here did). Anyway, this conversation about vegetarians has virtually nothing to do with the topic of this thread. Issues of animal rights or vegetarianism are not synonymous with issues of homophobia just as issues of homophobia are not synonymous with issues of racism. I think that people are more offended by the Duck guy (I had no idea who he was until I saw this thread) making his statements because he made them in a serious setting. Eminem, on the other hand, has said, also in serious setting, that he does not have anything against gay people. Eminem's homophobic lyrics are said through music and are clearly either said in a joking manner or purposed to instigate discussion and bring attention. Eminem is an asshole like that and people know that. There is a lot more I could say on this but my post is already way to long so fuck it.
