Make the perfect Eminem album.

You have The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Encore, Eminem Presents: The Re-Up, Relapse, and Recovery.

You can take ANY song from ANY of those albums, and make a track list that you think would make the PERFECT Eminem album.

(You cannot use songs Eminem was featured on from other artist's albums)
(The track list cannot exceed 25 songs)

This would not be possible for me as to me, a great or classic album (and what makes Em's classics, classics beyond quality and content) is consistency in sound. An overall feel and style.

So I couldn't have songs from The Slim Shady LP with songs from say The Eminem Show and have it be a 'perfect' or even a good album. As to me that would be totally inconsistent.

Which is the reason "Beautiful" ruins Relapse for me. It doesn't ruin it because it's such a bad song, but because it clearly wasn't made for that album and sounds out of place.

Great albums have a consistent sound, just like great movies have a consistent feel that carries throughout. Imagine having a random horror scene in the middle of a romantic comedy or visa versa... it wouldn't make sense. And, that's what it feels like when you have an inconsistent album.

I don't completely agree with you here. Great movies can have aspects of multiple genres, much the same with albums. An album like:

1. Infinite
2. 8 Mile
3. Lose Yourself
4. Almost Famous
5. My Name Is
6. Cold Wind Blows
7. Kill You
8. Stay Wide Awake
9. Buffalo Bill
10. The Way I Am
11. Rock Bottom
12. Deja Vu
13. Going Through Changes
15. Soldier
16. Sing For The Moment
17. Say Goodbye Hollywood
18. Till I Collapse
19. Still Don't Give A Fuck
20. Criminal

While his voices are polarizing on these songs and the beats have different sounds, the differing aspects don't ruin this. This would have a sensible, cinematic feel with this sort of correct transitioning.

It's not about the aspect of the genre, or the content, it's the style and the sound.

The Slim Shady LP is political, comical, satirical, personal etc.

It's not that you can't mix themes, I'm talking about style, and overall sound. All the records on The Slim Shady LP, have a particular style. They were made for the same album.

That tracklist you made wouldn't work for me, as an album. It's just a collection of great tracks. An album needs to have a consistent and coherent sound, with all the records fitting. Otherwise it may as well be a greatest hits CD.

7. The Way I Am - MMLP
8. Just Don't Give A Fuck - SSLP

10. Kill You -MMLP
11. Who Knew - MMLP
12. Seduction - Recovery
13. Superman - TES
14. Space Bound - Recovery
15. Stan - MMLP
16. Cleanin' Out My Closet - TES
17. Mockingbird - Encore
18. We As Americans - Encore
19. Like Toy Soldiers - Encore
20. Sing For The Moment - TES
21. Mr. Mathers (skit) - Relapse
22. Deja Vu - Relapse
23. Beautiful - Relapse
24. No Apologies - Eminem Presents: The Re-Up
25. Till I Collapse - TES
