Most threads end up here. It seems to be pretty divided. There seems to be one large group that loves one and hates the other. And then there are the total stans that just eat up everything.
Part of me thinks it was record label strategy. Giving the people who love the more crazy side of Em with Relapse. Then giving the emotional, more mainstream feel of Recovery.
Relapse feels more complete to me. Em just sounds like he was really into it, there was an obvious direction(excluding crack a bottle). Recovery sounds forced. I will always believe that Em liked Relapse and wanted to do Relapse 2, but outside pressure caused him to change direction. Recovery has bad beats, forced flows and lyrics and little replay value. Recovery is one of the few albums these days I paid money for and I don't even listen to it. I still listen to Relapse. There was a lot of songs made in the Relapse era and with some adjustments to the album, adding some songs, removing some songs, to me, it's right up there with Eminem show.
I know some of you guys that have came here every day for the past five years will be aggravated seeing a topic that has been ran into the ground. But that's not my fault, I didn't trick you into coming into this thread.
Relapse.
