Yeah, because Canibus is definitely capable of discovering deep rooted conspiracies that the entire world population can't. Reminds me of the time I saw the Illuminati and Big Foot kill 2Pac and then fly a plane into the twin towers on behalf of George Bush and blame the Muslims. Makes total sense.

How does that make sense at all? You don't get Bis but you believe in all that nonsense? :confusion:

I love how so many think just because someone is very intelligent and knowledgeable in their rhymes it means they are pretentious.

The "only eminem fans" statement is far from true. I'm not on either side of this argument, except for the fact I can't stand Canibus. I keep my opinions about artists -that I don't like- to myself, for the most part, but for you to say that, "only eminem fans dislike canibus." Is a ridiculously absurd generalization. I dislike Canibus for most of the reasons stated above (which are very valid points) He IS a pretentious fucktard in his music; While holding very little, if any, validity as far as knowledge goes. He has no accolades to show as far as intellect is concerned. Canibus reads about conspiracies, astronomy and religions, then recites half-witted rhymes. In all honesty, none of his work is 'his own'. By that, I mean that he only uses the work and research of others; Throws it together and makes it rhyme.
He has a very minor cult following of people -mostly white teenagers- who want to be rebellious and believe that the U.S. Gov't is out to dominate the world; While simultaneously contacting extraterrestrials for blowjobs. I mean, really? I'm far from naive in my ways of thinking; But to come to the presumptuous conclusion that Canibus is somehow a genius and has dicovered the secrets of the universe is not only ignorant -in terms of discrediting any work real scientists have done-, it's downright juvenile.

There are more canibus lines that are faulty than there are that aren't. And no, I'm not a 'stan' and I don't dislike people for no reason. My ultimate reason for disliking Bis is the fact his music, in my humble opinion, is terrible. I can't stand his voice and he never says anything relevant. Much the same reason I can't stand Immortal Tech or any other "revolutionary rapper". See, if you're going to make music about "revolution" and how corrupt the gov't is, why aren't you doing something about it? Granted, I respect I.T. because he's an actual activist and attempts to do something to change the world. But most of this sub-genre only make this type of music to be counter-cultural. "nonconformity is the ultimate form of conformity."

That's just my two sense.

Not one of those artists is underground.

Just because those guys were fortunate enough to make into the mainstream and often have radio songs doesn't make them pretentious to you.

Whereas Canibus who's given up on the mainstream a long time a go and thus tried to spit knowledge and let his listeners (and himself) get more socially aware makes him pretentious....right? Smh.

No...the fact that they aren't pretentious makes them not pretentious to me. They spit real, intelligent lyrics that actually make sense and aren't just ramblings about conspiracies, aliens and whatever else Canibus loves. So an artist has to be "underground" to be a good lyricist? Canibus isn't mainstream for a reason, his songs generally suck. And besides, you really think Rakim is more mainstream?

Canibus will never go down as a great. When people cite the best lyricists, when is he ever mentioned? Never.

@Menzo...no Canibus clearly gave up on the mainstream for many reasons, some reasons relate to areas where the people going at him won't care about. Other big reasons include that he clearly understood that his music was not going to make it big in the industry, so there was no point in trying to waste time and keep trying for years and years, or dumb it down further and lose all integrity. He understood he was never going to make it, so thus followed a different approach.

@slimshady10...again just because he has an interest in conspiracies makes him pretentious? no at the worst it makes him ignorant, but not pretentious. why would he not in his music talk about things that interest him? or areas of life that he believes in and thus raps about to make other people have a better awareness of. last time i checked that's called staying true to yourself, talking about things that affect you.

canibus is not mainstream because his music is not made for that type of industry, it simply has no appeal to the wider music and hip hop audience. rakim was in a different era of hip hop, it's not really comparable, but yes rakim did get plenty of airplay on hip hop stations in his prime, and for what it's worth...rakim's discussion topics at that time weren't as in depth as canibus' are now, but rakim is a much better rapper than canibus, that's not even a debate.

I even bolded and enlarged the key words.

cannibus is pretty much a nobody, so I don't see why people who don't listen to him even care

You've listened to him and decided if you like him or not. I said only Eminem fans write him off and hate him without listening to his music.

Read the bold print before turning into Nathaniel Hawthorne next time.

The 10% usage of our brain is a myth, it is not true. The idea that 90% of the brain remains unused doesn't have any substantial foundation.
