Best Rapper Alive!

This is not a discussion about who the best rapper alive is. This is a discussion about why the term "Best Rapper Alive" is so widely used. For starters, rap is relatively young. This isn't rock where we had people banging out tracks in the 70's. Big Pun, Biggie, Pac, Guru, & Big L are the only dead rappers who have a shot at being named the best.

So why the hell do we say best rapper alive when it only excludes like 5 rappers. You could say it's out of respect for the dead but the way I see it, it's just postmortem dick riding.

Big L has no shot at the best even out of dead rappers, Eazy E (Yeah I know he had ghostwriters) and ODB deserve more of a shot than him. Honestly Big L is one of the most fellated dead rappers, yes Biggie and Pac are fellated more than him but they deserve more of a shot (no pun intended) to be in the top 10 list than Big L.

And they say it not to make themselves look like a conceited asshole, Pac and Big died in their primes and were releasing great material, and while it is baseless conjecture whether or not they would have stayed on top of fallen off, Pac was getting better near his death and even Biggie can be made a case for.

The second you placed Eazy E and ODB above Big L I immediately stopped reading. You obviously are on some potent drugs at this very moment. Big L's multi syllabic rhymes, humor, and praise worthy punchlines vs Eazy's....AIDs and ODB's....singing?

Eazy E if you include him with the NWA group collectively than yes, he's a better storyteller and yeah I already acknoweldged he had a ghostwriter. As for ODB the dude's catalagoue is definitely better than Big L's and his craziness spiced up tracks. And lol Pun died of being a fatass do you really want to go there.

As far Big L's skills he was a one dimensional punchline rapper that's it, he couldn't make a decent song without having a punchline every five seconds. His multis were average nothing special, I will give him that he dude have some humor though. But he doesn't deserve to be put on the same pedestal as Pac and Big.

Big Pun's worst verse ever was 30x better than anything ODB or Eazy E ever wrote. Big L was original for his day. He did the funny punchline thing...before there was a funny punchline thing.

I know you dislike Big L, but this is just on another level. A rapper isn't a rapper when he doesn't write his own lyrics, this isn't singing where you can show how good your voice sounds, rap is all about the lyrics, even the flow you use is determined by your writing... When you rap someone elses lyrics you're nothing more than a joke.

Perhaps I jumped the gun with eazy E so I will concede to him on that point, but I do believe that he's the epitome of "death hype", it wasn't until he died that he garnered such a huge rep among hip hop heads and eclipsed other living legends in the DITC (Lord Finesse, OC, Diamond D). When he was living he was barely anymore recognizable than any other DITC member, and it wasn't until he passed that LOPD was considered a "classic" in people's eyes.

Pac and BIG while fellated had tons of hype while they' were alive, so did Pun and Guru just died recently so that point is moot.

As far as his skills as a rapper that's another topic I'd really rather not get into now.
