And it's all opinions, people. Jay-Z got his classic material, his whack material, as does everyone else.

''Rakim'' means the all mercifull in arabic, not son of God.

In interviews, he always says it means "Son of God". Maybe he's wrong?

Not looking for a debate or anything, but when Jay-Z wants to, he can really be dope. But some of his "when he wants to" times are a little questionable.

mcZu wrote:Yeah, he is, it's actually ''Abdurakim'' which means ''the one who praises the all mercifull'' in Arabic. Rakim means mercifull if I recall correct. But I'm quite positive that it isn't ''Son of God''.

At around 0:20. I think he wasn't translating it into Arabic, as he translated "Ra" in his name to "Sun God" which is Egyptian. Maybe it's wordplay, lol, since he said Sun as Son. Nvm, lol.

mcZu wrote:Jay-Z is overrated, true. However, that doesn't take away his skill. He can be good when he wants to be, he has tons of great songs, and tons of horrible songs. And I don't think he really is biting, more of paying homage. I mean, if he really did want to bite, why not bite some really good lines from undeground artists? Instead he ''bites'' from well known artists.
