And to be honest his wordplay, lyricism is the best he's ever had.
All we need now is emotion and wittyness. And he already confirmed one of those(emotion).
So technically if he's as witty as he was in the MMLP and SSLP days we may just have the best Eminem album ever and maybe even BEST rap album ever. :flutter:

I'm really hyped but I don't want to get to a point where I expect the best rap album ever....
I do expect it to be TES level(which is a lot) but i really do believe in Em. :8)

Yeah well Mr. Porter said he's as happy with this album as ANY classic rap album.

Now I know people will just assume he's talking shit yada yada. But that's an insanely bold statement to put his rep on the line for. He's not a bullshitter.

So whatever it is, must be pretty special.

Considering that Em has been on fantastic form after droppin' Relapse... I'm hyped for sure.

The fact that he's listening to more recent hip hop can only be a good thing too. :y:

Eminem hasn't fell off. I don't know about you but I only consider a rapper having fell off when they either lose passion for their art. So, they become lazy with their lyricism, don't care about the reasons for doing it anymore. Can you honestly say his technique is lazy? He's more buzzed than ever.

Either this or they sell-out. And Em never has sold out. Just to clarify for anybody who jumps on this point, selling-out means to compromise your art for the sake of money. And for his fifth album, doing a horrocore album, talking mainly about rape, pills, eating unborn babies and murder in such a complex way is NOT selling-out. You can say he's sold out when he's making track after track bragging about success, in videos with gigantor chains and endorsing bullshit products. COUGH, 50.

If you don't like his new flows / accents or subject matter. Fine. You should say you think he's shit now or you don't like the new Eminem. But that ain't falling off. His lyricism and ambition are as stark, inspiring and big as ever. He's really pushing himself again.

You say he ain't the Shady you fell in love with. Well, again, just me maybe but I didn't want Relapse to sound like his past efforts. One of the primary reasons Eminem is so exciting to follow for me is the fact he sounds totally different every album. So if Relapse sounded like The Slim Shady LP I'd be disappointed. Not only because it would be a repeat performance but that's not where he's at now.

He also purposely avoided talking mainly about personal issues. Not because he fell off but because he did it from 02-06 and personally, I'd heard enough off it. What did you want another 20 tracks about his guilt about leaving Hailie, his unescapable fame and how he's not appreciated enough in rap? He did it to death. I'm totally glad he didn't do this. Serial killing is exciting and cinematic.

I have his past albums when I feel suicidal but for now, I'm loving his new sense of fun with rap.

You're right, he's not the Shady I fell in love with. He's provided me with a new Shady to fall in love with. I sure as hell wouldn't wanna be without "Stay Wide Awake" or "Buffalo Bill". He's on another level now. Before he was a cocky rapper with a smart mouth. And I loved it. But now he feels like a manic wordsmith. Such poetic phrasing, light-years ahead. And awe-inspiring flows.

But, just as a finishing point. His psycho-talk, obsession with wordplay and twisted humour all pre-date his bitching and personal-driven rapping. So he actually IS the Shady everyone fell in love with.

The majority of us would agree that Relapse is better than Encore, and with this being the case he is on the up and Relapse 2 is only going to get better.

I fucking love Relapse, and I wouldn't have minded if R2 had a similar style, but based on what Eminem and other sources have been saying, and after the Drop the World and Forever verses, I'm sure this album is going to make my ears melt from the awesomeness.

People complained about the accent after Encore, yet he still came with it on Relapse. Hopefully this time around he uses the voice that got him famous. I'm really excited to hear anythin from the new album, but I hope it'll be something that actually blows me away like his old stuff used to.

You're making it seem like Relapse was a straight serial killer, rapist type album. Sure there are a bunch of tracks where he talks about that, on Refill too, but if he really wanted to stick with that theme straight through he should have made changes.

Removed:
My Mom
We Made You
Medicine Ball
Old Time's Sake
Crack a Bottle
Beautiful

Replaced them with darker songs to fit the psychopath theme.

Buffalo Bill
Music Box
My Darling
+ a few others that we know he could've killed

then we have a "concept" album, sticking to the darker side. probably a better album , in my opinion.
