Alaine wrote:just curious Embase what makes you think Mosh is one of Em's classic? to me that song is meh and I consider it one of the worse track on Encore.
And let's be real, NONE of Encore track can hold on to his past work, he can't rhyme to save his life there. And people say why only bring his "joke "songs? well there are good joke songs and bad joke songs, from 2004 they only gotten worse...

Due to the fact it's a total evolution lyrically. Many people see the step down in rhyme on that track as a detriment but fail to see the poetic phrasing, he was just in a zone on it.

Also one of his best choruses IMO, stomping flow too. For once the slow growl adds to the track, it feels atmospheric and on-point.

"Look in his eyes, it's all lies, the stars and stripes have been swiped, washed out and wiped!"

Don't know how you can say it's one of the worst on Encore. Its probably easily the best on Encore for me.

And obviously Encore doesn't compare to the previous 3. I didn't claim it did. But we're not discussing the previous three so why bring them into it. He also can rhyme on Encore, cite: Evil Deeds, Crazy In Love. Again, Crazy In Love - Some of his most poetic and mature lyricism. A step forward.

Yeah try and keep up with the responses moron. I know it was WRITTEN in 2001, not freestyled, he just spat it in a 'freestyle'.

Liek I said, he wouldn't been able to have pulled it off so well if he had fallen than badly.

But I also named other tracks such as "Mosh" and "Public Enemy #1" So keep the fuck up dick head.

--

@Bistnal, well of course the stuff he was writing didn't compare to the previous stuff.

But how many artists keep getting better?

He put out three straight classics and in most people's view, bettered the previous album each time. He did that three times in a row.

He's only human. He was near-immortal on The Eminem Show, nobody is perfect. He can't just make no mistakes or just keep getting endlessly better lmao.

Nearly every great artist or band in history has a dip. Because they burn themselves out creatively, need to rest and get back up.

so you admit that material written out of the period i say he "fell off" is what you used to try prove he never "fell off" during that period....ok. ill take it its makes no sense and makes you look dumb but if thats your angle then ok.

like i said encore was the start of him falling off. touchdown, material on re-up, lots of material on encore, fack was his fell off perion. relapse was him climbing back on.

NO I don't admit it, I already knew it and knew any Eminem fan would know it too. It's common knowledge that SOME of the song is from 01/02.

Not all of it is however. It was bits and bobs. He added shit in 06 and on my watch, the whole song, all three verses are fire so if he fell off he wouldn't of been able to match the shit he wrote in his prime now would he.

Again though, also mentioend two other songs now. Okay then. Thanks.

Also, Encore wasn't the start of him falling off and Touchdown being a continuation. Encore he realized he was getting bored with it and the fame too much. That's why he announced a self-imposed break in 2004 and put out Curtain Call in 2005.

As for his Touchdown verse, that was done in 07, the height of his drug addiction and writer's block. Yes he had writer's block and was battling addiction. That's why he was staying out of music, trying to get rid of the drugs. So no wonder his verse was crap but it's nowhere near as bad as people make out. He's done worse.

---

@Alaine - I already responded to you asking me why I think "Mosh" is good.

Scroll up and read.

Well that's why we're saying he fell off, because if not get better, at least keep the skill the same, not go backwards. You have to admit the rhyming on touchdown and songs like that was inferior to his other stuff. It'd be nice if he could get better, but it seems like now, he is actually getting better at rhyming. Agree with you that he did really need that break, he seems musically re-energized now which is what I think was the problem w/ Encore on, he was tired of it. So the fact that he's into it again makes me believe that he won't fall off, he'll try to do the best he can and at least hopefully come close to matching his previous (good) albums.

Not wanting to get involved, cos it's not something i'm interested in. I've personally never used the phrase "fell off", because IMO no one ever loses their talent, they just don't use it right. Also, in some circumstances (not these), it's an easy way to just hate.

But as far as saying Em had 3 straight classics, i'd personally say he had 1, at a very stretch 2. But that's in the whole of the Hip Hop game. People chuck the word "classic" around, yet artists are lucky to even have 1 true classic in their whole career.
