I hope he wins a grammy for beautiful too, wouldnt that take his tally up to 10 ?

Well he's got 9 now.

So he has the potential to end up with 12. But very likely will just win 1, giving him 10.

I think he's definitely win for either Relapse or "Beautiful" Critics lapped that single up. But I think he should win for the album.

I remember the photo from the article. Best Rap Album: Marshall Mathers LP. Marshall was like "I'd like to thank all the people that looked past the controversy and saw the album for what is was..and what it wasn't." i.e. I just performed with Elton John then flipped off the crowd, I'm not homophobic, and neither is my album :D

I'm glad BP3 missed the deadline though because otherwise it would of won just because everyone sucks off Jay-Z like he's god. And it's not a scratch on Relapse.

Different albums, with different themes. But as a whole, they were even to me.

And i don't think anyone "sucks him off", IMO, way more people hate on Jay than Em.

I don't think so. In the media, especially US, they threat him like a king.

Weren't even to me either. Jay's album had 15 tracks and 10 of them were features. Every name was a 'hot' name for the time too. Pure desperation.

Just a feature heavy, commercial lump of an album. The only thing great about it is the production. Thanks to the wonderful Kanye West. Jay's bragging isn't even witty. And that's all it's packed with.

Where as Em had 2 features. Dre and 50. 50 was fucking awful as usual though. But other than that, totally beautiful hip-hop album in terms of craft. Dre's production wasn't that impressive but it was solid enough. But Em's lyricism and flows on it... Aw man, endlessly more entertaining, skillful, witty, interesting and original to me than Jay's.

If Em had come out with something like BP3. Ten out of fifteen features, just 'hot' names, every single track just bragging about being the biggest selling rapper ever and how he's king... Yeah, sure that would go down well. Don't know why Jay gets away with it. I would bash Em the same if he did that bullshit.

Yeah the media loves Jay, but the fans are on Ems dick like nothing else. And that's what counts when it comes to sales, general opinions and sometimes awards.

I listen to both, on and off, as they're 2 of my top 3. As both have things, the other does not have.
When i'm in the mood for an aggressive, ruthless flow, and just crazyiness, i listen to Relapse. When i'm in the mood for a more cultured, easy flow, with a bit more meaning and reality, i listen to BP3.

Both were different albums for the two, compared to their other, more popular efforts. For me as a fan of both, there's disappointments, but also things i'd never heard them do so good before.

I wish BP3 had some of the more hyped tracks of Relapse, whilst i also wish Em would've spit with the more comfortable flow like Jay does on a couple of tracks, without having to go double time and over do it.
My Top 5 (in no order)-

Eminem
Big l
Biggie Smalls
Royce Da 5'9"
Jigga

^ Maybe that's why we see Relapse differently.

I don't want laid back flows from Em. I'm so used to complex and energized flows that laid back, Jay-Z style flows from Em, make Em sound lazy. Like Encore Em.

I got Nas for laid back.

Plus I actually prefer those flows. They're totally addictive to me. As I say, if I wanna chill out or have a laid back flow, I personally always turn to Nas or maybe something spacey like Cudi but I love Em's crazy Relapse flows. Very addictive to me personally.

But the thing is, it doesn't have to be "laid back" as such, just less in your face. I mean a flow like on Square Dance, you catch every word, he doesn't spit 100 miles per hour, and the internal rhymes and multi's are still sick as hell.

Encore wasn't poor because of his flow, it was because of his energy. He sounded like he didn't want to do any of those songs. Whilst on songs like "Young Forever" on BP3, Jay is sick with his flow and very versitile, but he sounds like he's in to the song, not just spitting for the sake of it.

But i like both. And although i love his punchline game on SSLP, i personally can listen to Relapse more times than it. So i hold it in decent regard, i just they're as full of wonders and faults as the other.

^ Yeah but that is the reason why on Encore, is because he didn't really wanna do them songs that much.

He'd become bored with rap and was quite obviously going through the motions. This evident from his horrid lead single obviously and if you watch clips of him performing it around 04, he's lip-syncing and looks bored as fuck.

Like he said, it was all self-loathing. It got worse then in 05 and 06. More majorly self-loathing shit mixed with the addiction, growly, slow.

But Encore isn't half as bad as people make out anyway. I like most the songs on it. It just feels like a mixed album. I think if he'd kept the original tracks it would of been much better. "Mosh" is one his classic tracks to me.

Yes your right about "Square Dance" but the reason for his flows being so drastically different on Relapse is because he likes to sound new on every album. And I think he pulled it off. Sounds great to me anyway.

Where as most rappers keep ONE style and a handful of flows at best, forever. Em totally switches styles every album and flows nearly every track. Insane. He's done everything from horrorcore to sing-song to ballads to lulla-byes to battle-rap. Everything.

I like the spitfire shit anyway. Feels like it doesn't date as quick because it feels more ahead of it's time, more complex. Just depends on what flows you like.

I'm just waiting for R2. Sick of analyzing the 1st one. Just wish they'd fucking release the cunt.

Well, I think the only real compeition he has it the Ecstatic which I thought was pretty good. But if it is supposedly based on popularity/sales then Em has this Grammy easily.
