allright so i'm doing a big big project(might count as my senior project) on how painkillers effect you mentally, physically, and emotianally. Basically how are these pain killer addicts affected by these drugs. It doesn't have to be too specific... anyways i will most likly use eminem as an example of an addict... and i also have a question,,, was eminem taking more sleeping meds or painkillers?? anyways i thought this would be interesting to post cause we might just be able to understand why em's body, personality, etc.. is the way it is now and how it was when he was an addict... anyways i would realy apreciate the help and sources would be even more helpfull since i need to have those... oh and btw is there anyone that has been an addict...sounds stupid but i sorta have to look for ppl to interview....

all I know is that Em used to get really messed up & do shows...his former body guard said he had the crowd toss someone out of some show for wearing an ICP shirt ..i'm not sure if that's true but you never know...plus when he's out on the road people start giving him drugs for free....which is pretty damn dope if your a rap star, rock star, pop star or whatever the hell you are ...that's probly why Em ain't touring anytime soon

Em seems to have been a user of opiates short of heroin (viks, perks, oxy) and also anti anxiety like valium, also methadone. He's also gone on record saying hes done acid and shrooms. Then saying at one point he couldnt do a show without poppin Xtacy. Weed of course.

And in my opinion, which should be pretty valid since I just got out of about a 4 year stage where I was doing all this shit....the painkillers dont do much to you in the long run. They make you feel a little shitty for maybe a day or 2 but, when your on an ecstacy level...pain killers and anti anxiety pills are just to hold you over till you get on more methadone or speed or X.

Speed and X are going to be the deal breakers. Those things deplete your saretonin(spelling?) which is the chemical that makes you happy. Or not sad - depressed. The extacy and speed is going to be what made him calm down and not be as funny as he was before, and thats because your cells in your body are not used to absorbing the natural chemical your brain makes to produce happiness....its used the artificial so...one - your brain produces less saretonin than it ever has before and two - your body has a hard time accepting the saretonin you are making.

Hence, not as happy of a camper as you used to be. Thats the short version anyways.

There are many medications that can be good for you but if they are abused they can be very harmful. Even prescribed medications by doctors can be abused and harmful especially once addicted to the medication. Many people take pain killers to help them get rid of their pain and stress. Painkillers work very well but you’re body starts to build an immunity towards them which will make the person take even more to relief their pain. Each day they will keep taking more and more and then their body gets used to functioning with these painkillers that it actually needs them to function properly. Some addicts take these to become numb to the world and reality. It gets extremely difficult to get off these narcotics because you’re body now can’t function without them. You’re body goes through so much withdrawal that you’re body goes through so much pain convincing some addicts that they would rather die than go through it. Here are the most commonly misused painkillers by addicts: Xanax, Hydrocodone, Vicodin, Lorcet, Lortab, Oxycodone, OxyContin, Percocet, Percodan, Tylox, Dexedrine, Klonopin, and Valium.
Symptoms of painkiller addiction: Mood swings from extreme belligerence to extreme calm
Sensitivity to sight and sound
Hallucinations
Sleeping for extended periods of time or frenzied periods of activity
Significant pain when painkillers are not available

i thought that too but he does rap and talk most about valium which i guess is a pain killer...i thought it was a sleeping pill though,, but i think i was wrong.... vicoden is a pain killer too so.. hhmm

The two posts above me were pretty much correct. Painkillers generally do not do much but numb you for a while; its mainly additives to the painkillers that make a more excruciating experience such as taking pills and drinking vodka and such. Other drugs like heroine, speed, xstasy, crack, and coke on its own affect the mind and body intensely. I wont go into each one individually, but to sum it up to a point; basically after long term exposure and use of the more hardcore drugs, your bodies body and mind operate and function differently and at different extents.

Basically what happened to Eminem is that he had drank, done drugs, done harder drugs, and did all that on pretty much a daily basis. At this point it was the life of a rap star, he was with friends, partying, on tour(free booz and drugs), rapping, pretty much doing what he loved. It was after his best friend Proof had died, where he had much mental pain, which in turn has physical effects, and he had no longer drank and popped pills for fun, it was to forget and cover up the pain. Eventually this new physical numbing had become natural and even after rehab and getting clean, his body still and forever more will have the remnants of all the drugs and drinking. Marshall Mathers is an Extremely luck man though, not many people survive an overdose of the caliber that he experienced, and he did it twice.

Yeah. Hes never really gone on record saying that he did speed. But there is a lot of meth in extacy. If its not meth, then its heroine. normally anyways. Sometimes you get that shit with the embalming fluid in it, that shit is noo good.

But yeah, ecstacy is the worst shit for serotonin. It stops your brain from producing the chemical...

To wrap up the discussion on what eminem really did do during his drug years, this is what ive learned just from reading all the interviews.

He's done basically everything. From what ive heard he was never too much into speed. More into sedetives. Like weed, vicodin, perks, valium...that sorta thing. But, Im pretty sure that for a while there, he was doing a lot of pain killers, a lot of anti anxiety(valium), a lot of xtacy...and all his problems was giving him insomnia, so he was taking sleeping pills to force himself to sleep through his stress.

That is not true. In real extacy there is no speed, only MDMA and somethimes chem drugs like 2-cb and other mild halusinegetics. Speed is often used in poor quality batches to mimic some of the effect the chemical drugs have. Anyway, I highly doubt Em popped cheap poor quality extacy.
