True. Even the Spanish are considered white, which some people don't know for some reason. It probably comes from the fact that in North and South America, a lot of the countries speak Spanish, and are darker complected, and people just naturally assume that the Spanish must be as well.

However, it were those particular white people that took far more land than the English did in North America. The White Spanish ran through all of central and South America destroying culture, forcing religious conversion, and raping women like mad. That's why the people in those Spanish speaking countries speak Spanish and are dark complected--they are descendants of the indigenous people that once used to rule the land.

My point is, ask THOSE natives who is "white" and would they say just the Spanish? I doubt it.

I was directing the rest of the post towards Yah-hah's comment that the non-enslaving-land-stealing-Europeans aren't considered "white" to North American Natives. I was reinforcing your point by using his points and logic when applied to the indigenous people of central and South America.

No North american natives that I know for the most part HATE everyone automatically if they're skin is white. I'm askin if you all think that's fair as non-natives. IDk about your races background but where I grew up I was basically taught to not like white people, even in school on the rezs they would say stuff like that.

Ok...then I misunderstood you most definitely. In that case, I don't understand how people with white skin who weren't involved in the North American Holocaust aren't considered "white".

Didn't mean to twist your words around in any case, just trying to show different situational perspectives.

That's too bad that racism is instilled in children. No, that's not fair, as a non-native. That's not to say I don't get why it's happened like that. The indigenous people of North and South America both got it bad, but the North American Natives experienced a more widespread genocide, I'd say.

The thing is, Native leaders probably don't want people to "move on", because in doing so, the white people more easily forget exactly how bad things went down, and don't worry as much when they say things about treaties being irrelevant in the continued takeover of Native land. EDIT: Beyond that, by keeping Natives separate from the rest of the country, the culture that was nearly destroyed by the Europeans that came here is easier to preserve.

Well its like I try to see it from a non-native persepctive but I just been raised in that for so long to where I almost naturally feel that way. I try not to because my mom is white and my adfopted brother is white. I dont hate white people like most of my people do but I do judge them more than a regular person would. I feel this way about a lot of races though, mostly because I was raised like that. Like black people for instance, I dont hate black people, my roomate is black and he's like my best friend, but when I hear about them always saying how they deserve reparations like they were theonly ones who've been in trials and feel like they should be treated better because their race has been through shit. I dont mean to offend people when I say this it's just if you'd have grown up where I did you would see people differently.

I understand what you're saying. It's good that you do your best to work on that view that you know isn't right. It's not right to be racist. I'm from an area that's very racist towards minorities, but I've never felt that way. Then again, I've never been told by anyone in authority at a young age to feel that way either. So it's a different situation entirely.

Be proud of who you are though, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that. Stay true to your heritage, but stay away from hate, because hate is what has brought us all of the problems we now have.

Thats probably hardest about it is I'm so proud of my native heritage and thats almost something that comes with it ya know. But I grew up around NAtives as a kid, mexicans and blacks the other half, I've only grew up around white people in my own house, my stepdad is white, his son is white, and my mom is part white, but mostly its been natives vlacks and mexicans

Some people tend to think that Spanish aren't white, well you do get quite a few Spanish especially from the south who are darker-skinned but that's usually called olive-skinned and that is still usually considered white. Hell, I'm the sort of whitey who goes really red.
