Well, there's no source that straight up says "it's a hoax" but there were many that suggested it was back when he was on David Letterman's show and seemed very high on some kind of drugs. Which no one would ever let happen because his brother died of a drug overdose.

There's a picture of Affleck, Diddy, and Phoenix with an article talking about the documentary, actually. He was rapping on stage one night and did a stage-dive into the crowd and Casey Affleck was there with a camera recording the whole thing. I'm pretty sure if you piece it all together, it makes zero sense.
