Interscope Waiting for Grammy Results?

I know it's commonplace for Em's camp to keep the element of surprise and then come out of nowhere. But it's nearing the end of January and still no release date, nothing.

Now, they don't know whether Em will win or not because they're not told. But I'm guessing they're pretty sure he will win at least one. I mean, surely he will. So... Does anyone else think it's possible they're waiting to see if he does or just waiting until he does win one or a few to eat off of the immediate, automatic public hype and publication of his name and Relapse.

Because they obviously have promotional plans they roll out but... If he wins a Grammy or two, they'll need to do a lot less work. People are already waiting for it, anxiously.

So they could be waiting to see if he wins, then they can do much less promotion, put a 1st single out in Feb and put the album out in March and it'll sell through the roof.

But if he doesn't win, then they'll probably roll out the promotional plan they had in mind. But if he does, it saves them time and money and in this recession... Surely that would make good business sense. Dunno if this sounds complete nonsense but I think it's feasible at least?...

Point is, they could have a huge promotional plan that they're waiting to roll out in Feb ANYWAY.

BUT, if he wins a Grammy, they could save a lot of time and money, eat off of the heels of that, put the single out in Feb and put the album out in March.

So it's not that it's dependant on the Grammy, it's just that, the Grammy could dictate the release date. Where as, if he doesn't win a Grammy, they roll out the promotional plan they had and were going to do anyway and put the album out a little later.... Or, even still, in March.

N' don't forget, this isn't just 'an award', a Grammy is the biggest musical accomplishment you can get excluding an Oscar, which he's already won. A Grammy, they take very seriously and so does the press. Even though it's not of course but they act like it is.

But regardless, if he wins a Grammy, his 10th, you can bet there will be a lot written about it. So it's very big, automatic, international press that will all mention the win, the album it won for (Relapse) and be a perfect set-up to release sequel on its heels.

He won't release the album within the next 2 months. Interscope will release a press junket about the upcoming first single, release date etc. at least 2 months before the album drops.

Even if they release the single mid-Febrauary, the album won't come out for 6 weeks after that. It's a business people; promotion and time are factors.

Also, he JUST rereleased his album a month ago. You guys don't think that Interscope doesn't want to milk that for the most money (again, they are a business).

Album won't come out before April/May.

The reason isn't Grammy related. The reason is time and possibly new direction on the album (because he made 3 albums worth of accented pseudo-serial killer garbage - so he could have released it by now).

Eminem is going to win this one, no doubt. I'd bet my life on it. If he doesn't the voting is rigged. I think they'll give it to him because he has the biggest name.

It's possible but I still don't think it is the planned mostly because there is one BIG problem. What if he doesn't win. Then eveything that they have planned will be fucked up. That's reason enough not even to think of such a waste of planning.

Anyway, Grammy is not that important like it used to be, the other awards too. If he didn't show up at the award, even if he won there'd still be no buzz at all. So I'm with ppl who say it's simply that Em's not done with the album.

Whether you like Drake or not "Best I Ever Had" got more spins and buzz than ANY song off Relapse. Eminem got buzz because he was Eminem not because any songs off Relapse, if anything the songs that he put out turned people away.

I know that "song" was popular as fuck: that was the reason I specifically insulted fans of that song
