Shady Records never filled their potential?

Postby MikeNUFC » Feb 1st, '10, 19:01

I never felt that Shady Records ever filled the great potential that came with Eminem started his own label. Bar him and 50 no-one has been REALLY successful.

Obie Trice is dope but has never recieved the recognition he deserved and 6 years at Shady Records with only 2 albums its a joke on the part of Shady. LEft due to Interscope not letting him put out the music he wanted.

Bobby Creek - Never felt he was the best rapper but had a lot of buzz so to not even get the chance to release an album must have been very frustarting on his part.

Stat Quo - Same as above really. 5 years, no album.

Cashis - Still working on debut album due to be released this year after 4 years on Shady. Has potential but doesnt look set to ever fill it, even with this album (no buzz over it, really)

Slim da Mobster - Heard a lot about him but was only singed last year so cant really judge.

Of course, Em must take some blame for the failure to eak the potential of the artists he signed. Of course he had his 5 year hiatus but managed to get Second Rounds On Me out but no other artists got an album in the last 7 years.

But I think Interscope are the ones that need to take most blame. They have always meddled in SR's artists' music, causing the departue of Obie Trice, who is one of the most underated emcee's in the game.

Em really needs to take Shady of Interscope, (but stay on as an indivdual artist) make them independent, sign Slaughterhouse, release Cashis' album and Slim da Mobsters and maybe, just maybe Shady will get to the top of the game, where its potential deserves.

Are you serious man? Shady has 50 Cent... 13x platinum... worth nearly half a billion dollars.... and you are going to say it never filled its potential? It may not have filled out the way you wanted it to, but it exceeded all expectations.

Only 1 artist?

And by the way 13xplatinum is 13m copies, that's about $200m.

Other than that I agree :y:

he is actually signed at shady too

he is

Shady/Aftermath/G Unit/ and the timbaland one..

but before he can put any music or albums out he needs to be signed on a bigger distributive label, which I think might be in what they are working now.

I think he will finish only being in the Timbaland one and Aftermath tho.. and with the same effect as Stat Quo

One fucking artist means fuck all. I'm talking talent. Apart from 50 no-one has filled potential. Obie is dope but doesnt get the credit he desreves and the rest have failed to even put an album out.
