As The World Turns has the funnier story

Well, my first thought was Murder Murder. So underrated. Such a great, slow calming beat. Brilliant 2Pac sample. Then Em's verses are rapped so calmly but about such violent incidents. It's incredibly clever.

"Acting like they never seen nobody hit a nick before,
smashed the window, grabbed the Nintendo 64"

Deja Vu is also a favourite of mine. I can't understand how people like Beautiful more as best Relapse song. Has a great chorus and his flow on this is fantastic. Deja Vu tells a sad story but manages to keep it from being self-pitying which is pretty hard to do, and for me, is where beuatiful fails . I mean take this:

"Now I need it just not to feel sick, yeah im getting by.
Wouldn't even be taking this shit if DeShaun didn't die.
Oh ya there's an excuse you lose Proof so you use.
There's new rules it's cool if it's helping you to get through"

Incredible that he manages to rap about his best friend who died without making people feel sorry for him or being self-pitying. Fantastic.

In terms of funny songs, Brain Damage is my favourite. For me, apart from his quirky singles, its the only Em track I've laughed out loud at.

Stan
I'm only entertaining you
My goal is to stimulate, making you high
And take you and I
To a place you can't see
But I believe you can fly
I don't mean nobody harm, I'm just partying
I'm not your dad, not your mom, not your guardian
Just a man who's on the mic
So let me entertain you...

you'd have to be, for sure. the sing-rapping in the second verse is really annoying. & the fact that he spent an entire track to clarify a racist tape made 15 years prior is lame as hell, too. nobody cares.

I disagree. Yellow Brick Road is a brilliant track. The 2nd verse is iffy but the 1st and 3rd are very well crafted and delivered. Despite the whoel song buliding up to that racist tape he tells the story without this really being mentioned until the end. One of Encore's better tracks.

they are well-crafted. the rhymes are tight & the story-telling is good. but the entire song is a needless justification (we know he's not racist)

Needless but he felt it wanted to clear the air as some people maybe didn't feel that way? He'd spent all his life tryna fit in, so didn't want people to think that he was racist. Even though I doubt many felt that way.
